The first one is very cool! Yamaha needs a production 360 smoker. However on the second one, why would Stewie have a bored out motor?

What engine did they use on the yz? It looks awesome.

And I don't understand peoples fascination with saying it was a pros bike. I would never want stewarts worked over and hard ridden turd. I didn't look close at the title bc I'm on my phone, but I can't imagine james would appreciate his address being postes on some rejects CL ad.

Looks like the bike Mookie raced in the Am's. No telling if the motor was stroked before or after it was sold Whistling

So I guess there is only one "James Stewart" in the entire state of Florida?

Seems like a more common name than that

That YZ360 prolly has an Ohlins 360 kit in it.
Basically a YZ 250 motor with a mod kit.

This isnt the same bike, but the same concept.

Noleen used to make a nice 360 kit back in the early 1990's.
I remember brooks doing pretty good on it in the 500 nats 1992ish,I think it may have been a better option the WR's some Yamaha guys were riding .

The Noleen kit was the Ohlins kit. Every now and then they pop up for sale and get snatched up pretty quick. They were from the early 90's, wasn't aware they would fit a current YZ250 engine.

The 360 is the same thing I have except with an Ohlins 360 kit. Such an awesome bike. They are built by mps racing in Ohio!

Stewart was riding a 450 in 2007, so unless that's a play bike, the guy is full of shit or some other "James Stewart" owned this bike. It's not a particularly uncommon name.

That is Malcom's old bike, if anything, not James'. See how the title is sitting on a Stewart plate with yellow backgrounds and what appears to be #271 which was Mookie's amatuer number when he raced a kx250.

I'd guess the James Stewart mentioned is dad, not Jr., and that like someone mentioned, it was probably Mookie's bike.

How does your bike compare to your 250F? Does the different engine change the handling and feel of the chassis and suspension? Did you have the chance to compare it to a regular YZ250?

MPS does not use a modern YZ motor for this conversion.

Cool Yam! A friend of mine raced a Ohlins-Yam 360 late 80s in the GPs. Back then it wasn't a hit for sure. They had problems with lack of power. Hes teammate was kurt Ljungqvist from Finland i think? Not 100% because sometimes i got teflon in my head. Only know for sure rider was from Finland. Ljungqvist (top 10 year before i think) and my friend (Kenneth Johansson aka Jackson) took a huge step backwards that season and struggled big time with a engine that refuse to rev and they didn't had any chance against all prepped 500s. Memorys..... I also recall that 250 class was as fast as the 500 so Ohlins had the same thinking like KTM trying today. But is it possible that they fit even today? I doubt that? Anyone recall same story? Was Ohlin selling those kits in the States?

What motor do they use then?

Is this Ohlins 360 kit still available like it was in the early 90's? Ive got an old 92 YZ 250 sitting out in the shed that would be a fun bike to convert if I had the time and motivation.

A YZ360 could easily (if built correctly) compete indoors and out with 450's and if 2 strikes ever fround their way back into the limelight I think a 360 would be a perfect bike to bring us back to mixing our gas and oil Wink

That has to be the 95 and earlier engine because those were the last bikes the 360 kit would fit I believe......boy oh boy I would LOVE to ride that 360Af......amazing bike. Why arent the japanese not looking at what the public is doing with 2 strokes....seems it is getting more and more steam every year and some REALLY cool bikes have been custom made....is that what this sport has become if you want to ride/race a 2 stroke? You have to custom build your own? What a goddam SHAME!!!!!!!!!! Hey Yamaha, Suzuki, HONDA, Kawasaki, take a look at what is happening outside your factory, people are not buying 10k 4 strokes as much and custom building their own 2 strokes, do you see a golden opportunity to gain a huge market share????????? Someone working for these companies has to be seeing this and has got to be thinking....hmm what if?

Not sure of the specific year models, but it was late 80s to early 90s. Compare that engine to a new YZ250 to see the difference.

I know people lust over these old 360 kits, but the two people I've spoken to who have actually ridden one said it wasnt really that great.

My buddy "Jackson" was their factoryrider and he doesn't even want to talk about that time. But the bike was much slower than a standard 250 same year. That is a fact. But the idea was cool. Thats why Dungey rides a megatuned 450 and Carioli 350?

Would love to hear from the 360 af by MPS owner. I am building a 360cc Ohlins in an 06 YZf450 frame.
