Get the warning flags , lights or a God damn blow horn further in front of the wrecks......and they would see less stuff like this happen.

Bad position of the warning flags and lights is what it boils down to.

The rider blowing by because he doesn't give a shit is the problem.

1. Did he see the YELLOW flag waving? Probably.

2. Did he see the YELLOW lights blinking? Probably.

What does YELLOW mean? Caution.
Does it mean NO JUMPING? No, it does NOT.

3. Did he see the RED blinking light at the side of the TOP of the jump? I have no idea and neither do you. If they want to be sticklers they should assess him a penalty.

But saying that the problem is that "the rider just doesnt give a shit" when you have no idea is bullshit and lame, considering his career almost ended on a sketchy triple in St. Louis in 2010.

Trust me....it's Sunday , I did a bunch of stuff here at the house today ( prepping my new work shop for my bike and all )......feeling a little run down from last night.......trust me....I'm chilled.

Anyways.....just saying that to all the guys who were griping pretty bad about what happened with the RV thing.......just take a mental note and subtract two points from the guy.....if the FIM doesn't. If RV wins the title by 1 point.....THEN come back and raise a shit storm.

But for right now.......lets get ready for St Louis !!

Well sorry man.....don't know what to tell you. I can tell you I had 3500 members strong and a lot of them people visit and post here. If some of those people knew it was me that ran the HindsightMX track for 4 years.....they would realize who I was.

You're not still a little butt hurt because I went off about the MDdos site are you? I already told you I didn't lump you ( and most everyone else on that site ) into the group I was referring to.

So now what? Am I still making you nervous because I have a point of view on this RV situation? I don't get it.

I'd say it mostly a track design problem. Its appears to be a pretty tricky situation; with the jump ramp too close to a ninety degree corner. A few more feet between the ramp and the corner would give the riders a few important milliseconds more to react to the warning system.

Just got done watching this and yea clearly red from the broadcast but we all knew the AMA would not do a thing about it.

If they want to say he could not slow down then extend the reds to the corner that they commit from. Either way AMA fails again.

Really? So you are unable to provide any examples of "he has really started riding dirty."

Thought so.

I confess i didn't read all 8 pages. but what i seen they are similiar to other posts in here.

here are the real questions.

Does the person who controls the lights also control the flaggers? Do all flaggers have radio contact with that person in charge?

Which is more important? flagger or lights?

Where are the flaggers found to do these events? ( I know the answer but this one is really something interesting)

IF in the corner you have yellow flag, and yellow lights, then 20-30 feet away after a rider has to commit to a jump the jump take off has red? ANyone that races or rides knows trying to stop like that is and endo waiting to happen.

We do stadium racing, and have for over 20 years, on the amatuer level of course. THe one thing that is tuff to do with this type of racing is flagging something quickly. Riders jump so close to each other and there is no room for a mistake. Outdoor is alot more spread out.

What does it have to do with rider jumping on red lights and not getting penalty for his actions?

Gotta let that MDdos thing go. That doesn't drive all comments from everyone. Quite honestly, I'm having trouble remembering what the heck even happened with the RV situationyou're talking about.

Now people talking about "butt hurt" from the internet would make me a lot more nervous if they were closer to my local area.

He would have to be.
He was committed to that triple when he landed before that single into the corner, you can bet that.
He had to keep his momentum up.
And no way he could have seen the glare of the red lights til he was on the face the jump.
Their not out there rolling around half throttle in first gear like C riders looking at every bump 3 feet away from them.
They are racing faster and farther forward.
Then nobody should have been able to slow their "momentum" then right? Your logic is a mystery to me. Why could all the other riders OBEY the rules. Who do you think he is RC? Do you think the AMA is afraid if they "penalize" him he'll threaten to quite?

Outsider, there are plenty of mindless pea brains on here that do not even understand how the basic system works for traffic tickets or vehicular negligence...let alone understand racing on a SX track.
With their analogy the cops are judge jury and executioner. Blink
It's comical. Grinning

We had a fatality up here in our series, when Josh Demuth landed on a downed rider on a blind jump, the CMRC are Nazi's about jumping on yellow flags(I think all they need is a yellow, the red and white means "we need an ambulance asap" BTW). I can count dozens riders who have been penalized over the last few seasons, and its not "5 seconds, or 1 position", its 1 lap. If the AMA had ANY BALLS AT ALL, OR GAVE 2 SHITS ABOUT THE RIDERS OR THEIR SAFETY, they would implement a rule like this. Going a lap down would have cost RV2 the points lead, he would have not even considered launching the triple in that situation.

BTW, motorcycles and cars are both motorized vehicles with lethal capabilities, so my analogy is totally accurate. RV2, who I'm a big fan of, ignored 3 warnings, displaying total lack of concern for another riders safety, and the rules of the game he plays. I have been racing for 30 years and know 3 riders who are now "6 feet under" from somebody landing on them when they were down on the other side of a blind jump, some situations were not avoidable, some were pure freaking bullshit and total lack of respect for the rules and other peoples safety.

Agreed. Not an RV hater (admittedly he's probably the fastest, most consistent, strongest rider on the track), but this was a serious safety issue, and if those yellow lights and flag was his signal not to jump, he should pay a penalty that ensures he'd never do it again. It was scary how close he came to landing on that downed rider.

The AMA needs to step up, clearly define the penalties, and then act on them, regardless of who committed the violation.

You are ignoring an important detail. The yellow flag doesn't mean roll the jump in supercross... that is what the red cross flag is for. Nobody wants to see people get hurt, and I'm sure RV doesn't want to hurt a guy, let alone crash himself out of the championship.

Think about it logically and exercise some common sense here.

The red light analogy and police holds zero water.
And as I already stated in this thread,it depends on the position of the vehicle before the light turned red.
See my post on page 7 in this thread for a better understanding of how the system works with cases like that.

As for riders getting landed on and riders not obeying flags....
What is the shut off point?
10inches? 2 feet? 10feet? 40 feet?
The rider has to be signaled within a reasonable amount of time to know when to slow or obey the flags.
That is the argument here.
When exactly did he see and notice the red lights?
That is what you would have to prove in court, that he saw them and knowingly went and jumped it anyway with zero disregard for the downed riders safety. It's a tough one...especially with the way they had that section setup and how he was committed to the single and had to carry momentum through that corner before he seen the lights.

It's all good man, we all have opinions. IMO there are too many grey areas with the AMA supercross Red/ yellow flag rules. Yellow should mean "caution rider down and no doubling", end of discussion, red should mean "we have a serious injury and we need medical attention NOW". By having too many rules, it makes things too complicated. This gives people grey areas to look for, then use to their advantage to brake those rules and use the situation to their benefit.

AMA rulebook definition of yellow flag:

1. Yellow Flag Or Yellow Light: Waving Yellow Flag or Yellow Flashing Lights: Indicates serious hazard on or near the track. • Passing is allowed • Proceed with extreme caution.

Red Flashing Light:

Red Flashing Light: A red flashing light may be displayed at the beginning of a triple jump or a series of jumps. Riders must roll each jump individually with no passing and exercise extreme caution until they are past the area of concern.

So, in race conditions, and at race speeds, if you're going to show a guy a yellow, and you don't specifically define him to roll jumps, then he's not required to do so. He can still consider himself "proceeding with extreme caution".

And, if you're going to put the fucking red lights at the top of a jump that's pretty much immediately out of a corner, put those red flashing lights in the corner itself so the guy has time to slow down.

The AMA's rule definition and implementation contributed to this mass confusion. Luckily nobody got hurt. Hopefully they learn from this, train their personnel to err on the side of safety, and get the proper information to the racer sooner than later.
