I finally watched the race, and frankly I'm not sure why RC and Fro were bagging on Stewart.
Looks to me that he was drifting wide and at the time of impact there was still room on the outside.
Seems to me that if the rider ahead of you is drifting into your line, you always have the option to slow down...

Reed Tweet:
Not gona lie felt great to be apart of a 2 rider run away love racing with @ryan_villopoto2 u know your going to get good ole fashion racing
We get one of the best races in a long damn time and some of you guys bitch like old women...
Malcom did this and..and Barcia did that....waaaaa
But I just dont agree here. That same pro who you quoted and apparently "gets it" wouldnt think twice about taking out a rival...ie: Bubba. He's tried in the past (Vegas) and what about Atlanta last year? Reed knows how to play dirty and will do it when necessary.
It's only a 8 race series for the SX2 guys and 7 legitimate contenders from the looks of things. There's no time to be messing around. Any guy you can cost a race by taking out or pushing around significantly increases your odds of winning the title. The SX2 guys have shorter races as well.
Each lap and opportunity is magnified by 25% just because of the shorter race. Another 50% because of the short season. And again magnified due to the unusual number of legit contenders.
Reed doesnt have to be that desperate because prior to his injury, it was shaping up to be a two horse race between him and RV since TC is out, Bubba is lost, and Dungey is content with the scraps off the table. And theirs still a ton of 450 season left. So of course Reed is going to play "respectful" with RV currently. But lets not kid ourselves, RV isnt playing the "respectful" game, he TOOK that win. His epic pass on Reed in SD could have been a lot worse had Reed not been so savvy.
If Dungey waits til the last race to get dirty with RV, it will be too late. He's already had his chances this year and passed them up. It may bite him in the ass at some point. Although, Im not discrediting Dungey's season long strategy. It's a good one. It's proven itself to work. I have all the respect in the world for the kid.
As for your other examples of guys who have toned it down on the 450s...Hansen has a good deal going. He doesnt need to race for wins nor does he want too. And BamBam? Didnt Barcia almost wipe out Dungey in one race? Yes he did. But youre right, the 450 guys are a lil more relaxed. Thats what happens when you have an established role in the sport and have collected a few paychecks over your career. We cannot expect the same patience out of the younger guys and nor should we. There are plenty of "nice guys" pitting out of their dads box trailer at the races.
If being a "True Pro" means playing nicely, then what do you call Weimer's situation? He's been getting punked all year long by your vets. If he wants to keep his job he better stop acting like a "true pro" before some young punk comes and takes his gig. That's racing. There's no crying in baseball.
These are young studs trying to make their way, and a name for themselves in a sport where factory rides are drying up. If you don't win at the 250 level, it's damn tough getting a decent spot in the big bike class.
"Most" of the 450 riders have been around for a while, and understand what's going on.
Looks to be good, hard, fun racing so far. Hope they can stay healthy, as well as putting on a great show.
Heres my signature quote over on MotoNews:
ProMed wrote:

Why are people so gay? Yes, "gay". All the time, "He did this, he's a dirty racer. I hate him and therefore all of the moto world."
Grow up!
Never heard of "rubbing is racing", or was I the only one who found the east lites races the best races of the season?
Literally, anyone who finds a block pass 'dirty', or in anyway 'disrespectful' has never even raced. You're telling me that at the opener of the season, with all the spotlights on you, you wouldn't pull out anything or everything for a better position? Judgments are made at season openers and there's a lot of pressure and emotion around it. Hence why the most mellow kid in the pits slapped Malcolm Stewart! (haha!)
Enough of this, it's ridiculous. Call it 'un-professional' or whatever, but motocross is motocross for a reason. If you don't want to see contact or take outs, or even the occassional fight, I suggest you find another sport. (Badminton, perhaps?)
Complete OTT brake checks, with the look back etc, can be classed as 'dirty riding' but the rest of it as all good in my books.
These guys didn't take no sh*t:
https://youtu.be/ymuj8WNtmvQ
David Bailey: "This is the best racing we've seen..." "This is what the sport is missing.." - FACT!!
https://youtu.be/OrdWPer2Xqc
Todd Harris: "The best racing we've seen all year."
Brownie: "We banged a few times, [...] it's just racing.."
Ryno: "We both started bumping and ramming eacother, but yunno' that's racing. There'd have to be something wrong with us if we didn't"
So don't start off because Barcia took a few guys out, Durham got Wharton and Mookie and Bogle got all heated. Things get blown out proportion, compliments of fools like you. Just let that sh*t fly..
