These music threads made me start cruising around youtube to find some good ol tunes. I found the links for Niel Young at BBC back in 71 and thought they were a treat worth sharing. I also find it pretty cool how nonchalant he is with the crowd as if he is playing for some buddies.
Ol Neil amazes me that he's still alive and going at it. Especially being a junkie for so long.

One of my favorites.

Anyone who is a Neil Young fan, this is a must read:
He did a lot of drugs, but 'H' wasn't one of them.
'Junk' is heroin.

I've just been learning his songs and found that first video and figured I'd share it. Change up the pace from the tedious political banter this place is known for.
What I've always admired about him is Neil does what Neil wants to do, artistically, and he doesn't give a shit. Record company exec demands be damned. Love or hate his music, that's refreshing. Won't be dictated to by some dik wearing a suit.
That Greendale project he did a few years back was good. There were 2 different CD's with live DVD's released. One DVD is an electric version and the other is acoustic. Then there was a movie DVD, and another DVD that shows the recording of the Album. I have them all. I think the 'Making of Greendale' DVD might be out of print now.
Of his latest stuff Chrome Dreams II is really good. There are some old songs that never got finished back in the day that he finished off and released on this one.
There is an epic song on it that sounds current until you hear 'Lee Iacocco' mentioned.

2 underrated albums from the 70's are 'On the Beach' and 'Zuma'

i saw the greendale tour at k.c. he did the entire greendale album. the couple in front of us was pissed because he wasn't playing any of the old stuff. about 3/4 way through, the couple stormed off. after neil finished greendale, he came back out and did about an hour of the crazy horse stuff. we just laughed and enjoyed it.
if you like neil, buy the "heart of gold" movie. it's excellent. i've probably watched it ten times..

I've pondered if this song was a shot back at Skynrd. Don't know if Young gave 2 shits about it, but the timing made me wonder...You wonder things like that baking while listening to Neil.
Both those are killer albums.
The were all sitting around having a drink, and Neil said, 'you know, for the album cover, I'm thinking about having a big bird with a naked woman in its claws, flying over some mountains and the desert' and one of the roadies was doodling on a napkin and showed it to Neil 'something like this?' Neil says 'perfect!' and that's the album cover!
I always got a kick of the cactus flipping the world off.
And I lived your post too! Vivian was awesome...
