This definitely isn't spitting but at A1 this year some young girl about 13 years old and her friend had a sign that read "James Stewart #7 Sucks!" I was waiting at the tunnel where the riders come out after practice and go back to their rigs and the girl ran over there to wait for James so she could shove the sign in his face, to her disappointment she missed him but a few minutes later his mom came out of the tunnel and the girl and her friend shoved the sign in her face and started booing his mom. I thought that was extremely rude to do that to someone's mom. That's still not as bad as spitting on someone but seriously what's wrong with these "fans?"

These low lifes are obviously not true Motocross fans as we know them.

You can't be a true motocrosser and not like James Stewart. Sure, he might not be your favorite rider but if you are a true motocrosser you have a huge level of respect for his riding ability, his character as a person, and the sacrifices and dedication he and his family have given to this sport.

Same goes for all the guys in the big show that we look up to and want to be like.

When you try to attract casuals to the races, that's what you will get. Is NASCAR similar in the fan dedication ? Still back in the early 70's I remember when MX was the place to be seen and be around in the southland. I used to hate the "red freak" types that would show for the show.

It's so typical that some asshole would take a cheap shot like that and then run and disappear into the crowd like the pussy that he probably is. If your going to do such a tacky and low class move to somebody, have the balls to back it up...don't run and hide like a little bitch! Also why didn't somebody around him at the time point him out to security?

A lot of the crowd booed James in opening ceremonies too.
And then people were clapping and cheering when he crashed in the heat.
I was shocked and bummed last night at A2.
People still don't like him because he's black? Really?

I was raised a backward, white trash, POS. I was taught that black people were stupid and ignorant...barely removed from monkeys. Then I joined the Air Force at age 18. Not only did I discover that black folks were just that...folks that were black...but just like whites...some of them were pretty darned smart and that honor and integrity knows NO color. My criteria for friendship became colorblind and I was grateful that I met many black men who accepted me for who I had become and not for what I came from. I am truely repulsed by racism and can not believe that the America that most of us profess to love still has people who feel comfortable enough to display these sorts of actions in public. God save us from ourselves. I'd like to publicly apologise to the Stewart family and assure them that although the idiots they must endure seem numerous and hateful...there are many many more of us that admire the skill of James and the sacrifice that the whole family has made to allow him to pursue his dream. Ride on Brothers. (I realise that my lack of eloquence could lead to misunderstanding and possibly anger due to the often touchy subject of racism...but please understand this...I believe and support equality of all human beings...end rant).

They are cunts, thats what's wrong with these " fans."

I don't attend many SX's anymore partly because I get fed up with all the fuckheads booing riders at intro , cheering when they crashed and generally being low life scum sucking pieces of shit.

Ger can change his name but that doesn't change his brain one bit. Jesus said that the only unpardonable sin is the willingness to call bad things good and good things bad because that happens to fit your personal prejudices - by that standard, I'd say Ger is in deep trouble.

It occurs to me that James is likely to go Nascar racing in a year or two - why would he bother? Why would he subject himself to that kind of crap every week? If he was my son, I know I'd advise him to go home and just live his life the way he wants.

I don't think his boos are because he is black. Maybe the whole spitting thing was and maybe not. He's just not very well liked. May be some thin veiled racism thrown in there also. Who knows but it's not always an instant race thing.

Either way it's bullshit to spit on somebody like that.

I`ve seen a lot of posts towards Stewart that said "get out of OUR sport", I doubt races are different.

Makes sense, and possibly good advice. BUT, that is what the POS people want him to do, its letting them win and control what he does. I would say laugh at their ignorance and use it as motivation to beat their favorite drivers/riders.

Attract casuals?

No, sir. I would bet a months salary that guy has a vital account, a clapped YZ250 with cut fenders, a steel ramp in his yard, and lives in hesperia/Bear Valley. That is the EPICENTER of "Peckerwoods" and half-assed motocross dorks. Skin head central.

I've been to SX/MX races over the years...believe me when I tell you that James' boos are mostly due to racism. It's ugly and uncomprehensible but still a fact. I DO belive that this stupidity is coming from "fringe" supporters of the sport. No one who truely loves dirt bikes and appreciates the skill required to ride at the top level would begrudge the fact that a black man could do it as good or better than a white man. (I'm no Freud but maybe it's a form of modified penis envy).

Got me thinking.... Anyone see that show awhile back that talked about growing up in the Stewart family. The sacrifices they made, how hard they all worked for parts and travel money, etc. Plenty of other American families have traveled down that same exact road. But the Stewart's are different. Can you imagine some of the rednecks that have been in their district. Deep, deep south man. Anyway, there was a part in that story where Big James is talking about their experiences amateur racing and one time in particular where they came rolling up to a track and were paying the gate fee. The guy at the gate says, "Sorry, we don't race no N _ _ _ _ _ S here." And James said something along the lines, "That's good, because we're here to race motorcicles..."

Imagining what that family has been through just makes me respect them that much more.

I've found that the people who've overcome the most obstacles are the most understanding, forgiving and "real" people you will encounter in this "walk of life". I got nothing but respect for Ma and Pa Stewart...James is able to showcase his talent because they were willing to "suffer the slings and arrows".

I disagree with the racism part of your post. RC was almost booed off the track in 02. Everyone hated him. They weren't booing him because he was white. Reed has received plenty of boos as well. Reed and RC have been booed more heavily than Stewart ever has (in the races I've been to anyway). There are a select few (very very few) who boo him due to his skin color, which is completely stupid and wrong of them to do. Stewart gets booed because of the stupid decisions he makes on the track and the lying he does to the fans. I think some people are actually afraid to boo him because if they do, they'll be labeled racist and placed in the same category as the piece of shit who spit on James Sr, which is a category they obviously don't want to be placed in.

I think this is the video you're talking about. It really shows the sacrifices that the stewart's had to make to get where they are today.

I agree some of his boos are because of his color. But as you mentioned about Reed and RC being booed worse (and I have also witnessed it many times) I believe it is mostly from the monster truck crowd, that have no idea what it takes to be a top athlete in this sport.

James' parents are and should be a template for everyone. Damn fine folks.
