I imagine it must be. After all, the programs that get the ratings are simply, duh, the most popular and what people in our country want to watch. I've noticed there are a lot of programs that show people at their worst or in humiliating circumstances. Is that what makes people feel better about themselves, seeing others publicly degraded?

I am watching "I survived a Japanese gameshow"

Wipeout was ok

It was a ripoff and blend of MXC and Ninja Warrior

It sure reflects a sense that I find among young people, that notariety is a high value, even if it's bad notariety. There seems to be a serious need for attention out there.

On the business level, I'm sure TV networks are thrilled to have people that'll act for free. What was it that the stars of "Friends" demanded? 100K per episode, each? Having people that are willing to humiliate themselves on American Idol for nothing must seem like heaven to the executives.

I have a terrible feeling that our society is a reflection of TV.

I try not to watch too much.

Of course, I never miss an episode of MXC!!

MXC's great stuff. I read a while back about the guys who bought all that footage from the original producers of the show in Japan, then hired comedians to do all the voice work. Geniuses, those people. I just can't believe all the sexual innuendo they work into it.

Yep !

Passed the physical, signed on the dotted line, Was scheduled for May 31st, and June 2nd, but two broken ribs, and two separated ribs, on May 23rd, postponed my filming date.

It's all for fun, and a shot at 50 grand in cash.

It's like watching punters from Denver trying to ski, it's funny as all get out but you feel bad for watching.

Ok, I know what it is now. To answer the question, Too many people get all of their info from TV. It is all they know. Yes, I think it reflects the total implosion of our society.

Actually each of the 'Friends' stars were getting $1 Million per episode.

I'd say the TV execs are loving all the cheap reality 'talent'.

Not really Geniuses but good marketing . Woody Allen invented it in the late 60's.

TV takes the abstract and packages it as normal.

I always liked the intro to Second City TV, when (was it John Candy?) hurls the tv out the apartment window and it falls all the way to smash on the sidewalk...That was funny stuff for its day.

The cast of Friends was getting 1 Million an episode each in the end, plus merchandising, plus a full 1% ownership in the show. That's some long dough.

Advertising is a great reflection of society- the programs are just there to fill in the spaces between adds....

I am not a big fan of T.V. I use sportscenter as background noise in the a.m. and like the CSI type of shows. The only show I record is Lost, and it allready jumped the shark IMO.

I don't know. I don't watch sitcoms. I only DVR motorcycle/auto racing, surfing and cycling.

TV SUCKS!!!!

The only show worth watching is CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM.

Larry David is a comedic genuis. I find myself thinking a lot like him, only he gets to play it out and make $$! lol

You can also catch a lot of Sienfeid-ism's as he created and wrote that show too which I still watch as well. But on Curb they can cuss. Jeff's wife kills me! hahahha

Finally something we agree on Rat, it must be true the World is ending soon.

I can watch the repeats and still lmao. Just the other night they had the one where Larry is standing over the dude in a coma wishing he would die so he won't havta donate his own kidney. Then he meets the dude who is head of the donation board and bribes them with a trip to a cabin to go skiiing and his daughter jumps off the ski-lift cuz she can't be with larry at sundown, due to her jewish religion. Larry's a jew as well and I luv jew humor! lol

I can't wait for the next season!
