carbs atomize fuel better than fuel injectors, actually.

What's so great about fuel injection? It's heavy, expensive, and its taking a few years to get it right. It's almost like manufacturers are trying to make fuel injected bikes run like, dare I say it, carbureted bikes.

YEAH! EFI sucks donkey balls. I hate having a bike that runs the same (perfectly) every single time I ride it. Pffffft. It's boring.

I miss having to jet bikes and guess as to what might work for the conditions on any given day or at any given track. Man, those were the days.

I wish they'd bring back drum brakes too. WTF is with all these new-fangled disc contraptions. LAME!!! They weigh a TON and what good are they? Stopping? Sounds like they are trying to make discs do the same things drums did.

Jeez, a little harsh. It was a serious question. I've heard a lot of people complain about EFI, saying the top end power is worse, they add weight, are complicated to tune, etc, and wasn't 100% of what all the advantages were. I've never really had to make any jetting changes, save for adjusting the air screw, so I guess not riding an EFI bike I don't know what I may or may not be missing.

Sorry I'm so dickish. EFI is tons better on the 450. Not even close. As for the 250F, I'm not sure. I guess it is a bit of an issue because those bikes need to be ridden higher in the RPMs but they will figure it out.

The only company that seemed to get EFI right in the first year is Kawasaki. The 09 KX450 motors were darn solid from bottom to top. I loved mine. I don't see anything wrong with EFI, but i also think a properly tuned CARB is just as competitive.

I agree. Its just really nice to not have to worry about jetting anymore. Or maybe im just lazy

I've literally never touched the carb of my '08 CRF450. Not even the fuel screw. The bike's never bogged, popped or done anything but run perfectly.

How is that possible with a carb?

I feel the power comes on harder with the carbs, a lot smoother with the EFI. I dont mind either but it is nice to not have to jet....

Luck? I've never had a single bike that ran "perfectly" all the time. There would be times when any given bike would run close to perfect by sheer luck (temperature, clean filter, fresh gas, etc.) but most of the time, I'd have some mild complaint but it was such a complicated task to change jets that I'd just ride it however it felt like running that day.

With my FI bike, it ALWAYS runs perfectly....even at high altitude. I love it.

I don't think so. I didn't have to touch my '04 or '06 CRF450 carbs either, although the '04 did do the cough/pop thing once or twice during a 2 year period.
