Let's not forget that Tickle is in the premiere class not by his or Mitch's choice. I think he may not be ready for the premier class and if I am right, then Mitch would have to direct his anger at the rulebook. Tickle won a regional SX championship in the 250F class right? He's no slouch.

Ok, really don't take this the wrong way at all.. I'm not being a dick to Mitch or the disabled or whatver crap anyone wants to come up with..

But this is how I imagine the aftermath. Just with a set of renthals in Mitchs hands (ffwd to 1:48)

"Why didnt you make the main Tickle?"
"It's my fault. I'm just having a bad day"
"Yeah, well it's about to get a lot worse.."

Tickle was involved in that 1st lap crash. Still got up and almost got Albee the transfer spot. He didnt make the main, but in a awesome ride to try.

I wonder if the AMA would consider changing the rules to allow 4 riders through the LCQ for a 22 rider main...

bring back the semi-qualifiers and bump the number in the LCQ back up to 4

I think you can summarize Broc's issues in one word, STARTS.

At A1 he had the 6th fastest laptime in qualifying. That does not happen by accident. Got a bad start in the heat but qualified. Got a bad start in the main and moved up to 13th, fell back to 18th and finished 12th. Speed was there.

At Phoenix he was collected in a first lap crash in his heat after a bad start. Got a bad start in the LCQ, still had the fastest laptime in it, just could not overcome the start. Riding the first lap in the back third of a pro SX has to be one of the scariest things in racing.

If Broc gets starts he can be at least a 5-10 guy. If he doesn't get starts, he is at the mercy of the back of the pack gods.

6 out of the heats, 3 out of semi and 2 out of LCQ. Each rider would have three chances and we would see more racing.Smile

x 2. Think its going to be a reoccurring topic this year! If it could happen to RV (last year), could happen to any of them.

it looks pretty rough this season for "should be in there" riders making the 20 field main.

So you're saying make it a 22 rider field?

If I'm not mistaken, it used to be 4 from each heat, 5 from each semi, then 2 from the LCQ. (250s)

The 125 class was 8 from each heat, then 4 from the LCQ.

I have been wrong before, though.

Either way, I think Tickle on a 450 was not such a good idea. Should have been Rattray.

RV still won a title and 6 races. I don't really see Tickle on course for either of those to hold onto that ride, if it will even exist next year. I could see this being a 1 and done year for the PC 450 just to satisfy Tickle's contract.

In the 125 class it was still 9 from the heats and 4 from the LCQ. Until the most recent format change to eliminate to semis the 125 main always had 22 guys with 2 not scoring any points. I kinda agree with the idea of 22 rider main though. There are already 22 gates, why not fill them up? 2 more guys circulating the track won't wreck anything and with the current talent pool you'd still get quality riders in those last 2 spots.

Tickle's 450 ride wasn't by choice, he pointed out. The move to have a PC 450 bike was Kawi's choice because they didn't wanna bring Tickle into the factory rig. Instead they gave Mitch more budget to do it.

Yeah, but that isn't my point. My point is that it can happen to anyone. He's only had two races in the class.

You got it. Heat's had top 4 transferring, Semi's had top 5, and LCQ had top 2 for SX and top 4 for Lites. Even if they don't bring back the Semi's I still think they should put 4 through the LCQ for a 22 rider main.

Fill that gate up!

Tickle will be fine this year. He has got the speed and in Phoenix he just had bad luck. If things were slightly different we could be easily saying what a ride by Tickle! In the right circumstances he could finish 5th one night and then not make the main another night.

If he would just be like yeah I'm bummed I didn't make the main but I was distracted by my wife (pointing as she strips down buck naked). I'm almost certain I'd take that excuse if I was Mitch. Well maybe!

Actually, Nyk made the Main and Partridge, too (PHX; but, NOT A-1).

The one-Main Wonders are:

Canard*
Grant
Tickle
Morais
Partridge
Wey

I'd say that's pretty good "Company"...wouldn't you?

So...Tickle get's a bad break and still...makes a run from the back to the front in the Consi...but...not ALL the way to the front. So what. He WILL be back.

*Canard was barely "healthy-enough" to race; yet, the young-man still came out and TORE IT UP! He WILL NOT be fading towards the end of the main after a few more weeks of getting back in to it.

Tommy Hahn made the main, and IIRC was running in, or close to, the top-10 before a get-together w/Chisholm resulted in a mashed hand and broken leg.

If I married a girl that was as attractive as his his wife I wouldn't care if I didn't make the main! I could get back to the pits faster that way!

Well, he won't have her for long if the money runs out.

I also like the idea of a 22 rider main.
