Im just curious to see what you guys think about Cooper in the future. To me it seems he is getting closer and closer to AC92 every year, in the pro's it's about how bad you want it and having the right luck (no bike problems, not getting hurt, etc.). After watching the MEC and JWTF video of Cooper it got me thinking about a certain rider who played second fiddle to a top amateur back in the day, but now the roles are reversed. That kid is now atop the mx world.

I dont doubt that AC92 is hard working and really wants to do this for a career, but all it takes is a little bit of bad luck to hurt ya. How do you guys think Cooper will stack up compared to AC92 when they get to the bigs

I have always thought that Cooper was a smoother rider then AC and that when they got older and got on big bikes you would start to see things change. The other thing to remember is that Cooper has Gary Bailey on his side and that will play a big roll as they get older.
I can see Cooper Webb being an AMA champion someday.

They should both be fine. Championships are not out of the question for either one of them. As long as they keep going in the right direction, and not the J-law, Hanny, Grant, Izzi, Sroupe way, they will be there.

Fuck yeah he would, did you see him at mec? If a guy on a 250 two stroke offroad modell can qualify, he can on the 85

If you have been around the sport long enough you know that success on the minis does not always transfer to the pros.

While Mike Alessi has had some success in the pros it is nothing like his min career.

While Robbie Reynard had some success in his early pro career, injuries certainly prevented him from being the dominant rider many thought he would be.

Brian Swink didn't rack up the multiple titles that were anticipated.

While he was certainly succesful in Arenacross Buddy Antunez hardly ever made the mark in the Pros that many thought he would.

Meanwhile, McGrath had no mini career and nobody can argue with his success.

Making the jump to the top level is a huge step that many Mini stars struggle with. For years they are on top and then they hit a wall called Pro level reality.

AC92 is an impressive rider, but hardly as dominant as RC and JS. Cooper is right there with him. Jordon SMith is there as well and making the move to big bikes could result in a tipped scale one way or the other.

The difference could be a tweaked wrist here or a sore knee there.

LL's will certainly be interesting this year.

I see number one plates in his future. There's always fast kids, but he is one of those transcendent talents.

AC no longer on mini's, some supermini left for him, but no smaller wheel. He will also be riding the kx125 pro-circuit 2-stroke, yeah baby!

My kids race in the same classes as AC and Webb, so I have seen them both racing quite a bit. Unless he goes down, there is no one in his class that even comes close to AC, including Cooper Webb. The closest my kids get is at the starting gate. Cooper is a great rider and gets it done for sure, but he is not the dominant rider that AC is.

Your are certainly right about that, Osby is flyin and is going to be the dark horse from Indiana, AC has yet to prove anything on the big bikes, let 2012 begin!

Cooper has a very bright future in our sport. He will be a champion. He is a good kid and has a good family behind him. He is already hauling ass on the 250f.

The sport did fine for many years without amateur "national" races and LL's. In fact you could argue it was better. More riders of equal ability and experience when they turned pro. Everyone had a chance. Bob Hannah and Danny Chandler would not get rides with today's methods. Imagine how many great riders give up on the dream because Daddy is not rich and semi retired to afford the "amateur" national circuit. What is spent on AC92's total annual race effort? A million dollars per year? Maybe more.

"AC92 is an impressive rider, but hardly as dominant as RC and JS." JustMX.

JustMX you may want to look into that a little further.

The fact that most of you are always comparing AC92 to Cooper should tell you something. Cooper is over a year older then AC. While a year may not seem like a lot, it is when you ride mini bikes.

Disclaimer:
In now way would I ever discredit the ability of the riders named in this thread. In fact, the opposite is true, Cooper and Jordan are great riders who have accomplished so much and have great potential. If you just look at the facts, they have not even come close to achieving what AC92 has done in the last 5 years. That should tell you something about what the future holds for the 92.
