Roczen riding East...no choice now...

Hes been a pro since his mini days, injury is nothing new to him. He will be back, biggest setback is lost practice time

Damn that's a bastard. Sorry to see this. I just hope Ken doesn't end up having set back after set back, over and over etc. It's taken a long time for Marvin to get back as well. Important that Ken doesn't rush back and re-injure himself now.
12/27/2011 2:39am Edited Date/Time 12/27/2011 2:39am
Wrong.

Injuries might not be new to him....but injured in so-cal is new to him.

And most every pro, has been a pro since mini days. And plenty before him have had a hard time adjusting to sudden time off as a young adult. The list is long and prominent.

What a shitter, hope everything goes ok,and things don't go the way Musquin's US conquest has gone, get well soon.

I was looking forward to watch him at A1... Looks like he tried a triple-triple section on the KTM track and cased it.

I have mixed feelings about Ken a little bit. He's been partying, snowboarding and doing, some would think funny, stupid stuff. I don't see him being 100% concentrated on what should be his main subject, moto. Maybe that's how he does it "a-la-Pastrana", but usually it doesn't last that long. Just the 2 cents of a never was...

That sucks....hope he is 100% by the start of the east but he doesn't have much time.

This is the first time I rememeber him being hurt since he turned pro. Hopefully it won't affect the wave of confidence and momentum he was on.

Interesting. Seeing some of the things out there I was wondering how he operates and coming from such a source...... It's worked so far, but for the extremely talented it always does seem to work......."so far". Saw him do a backflip (sans bike) off a dirt mound in riding gear and wondered if that was all too smart. Would be so easy to twist an ankle (or something worse) and for what reward? Anyway, make it 4 cents now with my added 2. Heal quick Kenny.

This sucks, but it makes the East coast racing that much more exciting.

Ahhh, so apparently the Pastrana approach is the one you condone. Imagine if any potential title winner hurts himself doing a backflip off a dirt mound. I'm sure DeCoster agrees with you that it is a good idea. Since DV brought it up, why dontcha bag on him a bit. Since he mentioned partying as well, I suppose you think that's a good idea too?

You obviously didn't read between the lines of DV's post. Or, you're blindly sticking up for your European brethren.

If DV says that Roczen is partying ....then it's just the tip of the iceberg if you ask me. Bummer. Because Ken coulda been one of the elite guys. I'm not fully writing him off yet, but I've seen this scenario play out enough times firsthand in this sport to know when there is cause for concern.

And please don't take my concern for hating on the kid. I don't judge any of them or hold any of their mistakes against them. We're all human.

Or, I could do it the proper Vital way, and naively defend the kid now. Only to rip him mercilessly once he's hit rock bottom, opens up, admits mistakes, and is honestly attempting to fix his life (ie the way Izzi has been treated)

Or maybe it was just a fall on a private SX track during practice.

Nothing else.

And here we go again....

History repeats itself over and over. Greg Albertin, Sebastien Tortelli, C.P, Ben Townley, Tyla Ratry , Marvin Musquin... The list could go on and on. All supertalented in Europe but when they come to US they want things too fast and injurys start to come. 1-2 doesn't really matter but then when injury 3-4 starts to come it gets in their head and the old supertalent start to fade away.

I just hope Ken doesn't become one of does who coulda, woulda, shoulda.

He is a very special person and rider so he should handle this well, but at the same time, so were the riders above.
Well it has started that way. Last year he looked real sketchy in sx.

You mean, like Ezra Lusk, Travis Pastrana, Trey Canard, Broc Hepler, Josh Grant, James Stewart... ?

Being injured is part of the sport, no matter where you're from. KR will be back.

Why shouldn't he bee partying, he's at that age. When will he party then, when he's 40? RC only started the "spartan way" when he was struggling. Why should Ken change anything when Its working perfectly well?

I think that someone like him, if he were to live a Dungey style life, wouldn't enjoy it and results wouldn't improve at all, on the contrary.

These kids have very little gaps of time off where they can still can go blow off some steam. I don't think there's anything wrong with doing what kids do in moderation. Lets face it their level of moderation is way above anything we do. So we judge but what is moderate in our life. Bottom line is he got hurt doing exactly what he was supposed to be doing, training to go faster.
Sometimes shit just happens. Get well soon Ken,

Burn-out has dropped a number of fast kids, I'll agree they need a way to blow off steam but I bet most team managers wish they would do it tromping through the woods in Alaska. Factory boys are paid big money and their's enough risk in their profession to challenge that investment. I don't think hood surfing on a car in shorts and t-shirt at speed qualifies.

Love the guy, great attitude and another wild and crazy kid that likes to push his play/abilities. I think many of us "dirt bikers" have some of that, he's certainly above and beyond. I know risk taking is part of advancing to the next level and no doubt you're going to get hurt. But you've got to be serious enough at this level to manage those risks. I look at that wild and crazy Pastrana guy in the AGV ad as I type this and like most wonder how many titles he could have won had he kept those shanigans in check. But you can't deny TP's success, popularity and love of play...Roczen will no doubt keep us watching.

Bummer deal for a good guy. I hope he has no complications and that the only inconvenience to his career is switching from West to East for this year.

I sincerely hope this will not turn into a chance for me to say I called this one. I want to see Roczen kickin ass. He is a special MX'er with massive potential.
