Apologies is this is a repost.
The mine shafts in this area are no Joke, some of them could easily swallow a SXS, The BLM can run miles of fencing to border us in, but look the other way to mine shafts....... W T F ! Hey BLM F U

Very Sad !
2 young moto dudes in their 20's, great guys from what i hear. I must also say i have done night rides countless times in the desert, main thing stay on the trail head. Makes me think though, probably won't do it again.

A couple of years ago, one of the district 37 clubs had a get together out in that area. It was not a race or anything more than a camp out / friends ride. One of them ended up riding into a mine shaft and had to pulled out by other club members. While they are rescuing this guy, a BLM ranger shows up at the camp and gives them a ticket for having an organized camp with out a permit. The people at camp were telling the ranger about the guy and his bike being down in the mine shaft and a bunch of people trying to get him out. The ranger did nothing!! Did not even drive over to see for himself. He made sure someone signed the ticket though..

I heard of a kid that just purchased a new bike was out in the area - he saw a mound of dirt and wanted to jump it or at least ride over it - (NEVER NEVER ride over a isolated mound of dirt in the desert) It turned out to be mine tailings - the kid rode over the mound and on the other side was a mine shaft 1500 feet deep - I don't need to finish the sentence other than terminal velocity was reached.

Hope these guys are ok - not sure what would be better - last ride down a mine shaft or a bunch of thugs roll you and your vehicle, beat your heads in and then dig a hole and steal the UTV

Is the mining company responsible for at least marking the area?

im pretty sure its private property so technically you arnt supposed to be riding there although everyone does.. they are both big strong dudes but if they didnt end up in a mine shaft 4days in the cold with no water or food would be pushing it...

if they arnt in a mine shaft then i would imagine that they would have been found by now...the chopper can easily cover the range of a utv in the time they have been searching...the only other thing that i can think of is foul play...hoping thats not the case but u never know what kind of tweeker weirdos you are going to run into out there at 3am..

The mentality of these Rangers and BLM kooks, I'm eraged to the point that words will just get me in trouble, These are the kind of people, you'd like to know who they are before you enter the black alley behind them.

you would think one of those utility vehicles would stick out like a sore thumb.

I just really hope they're not trapped down in a mineshaft and injured.

there was a guy who's 4 wheeler ran out of gas and he survived 7 days in the 29 palms area. in the training area actually. but he was rough when they got to him.

he had been drinking the blue water out of porta-shitters to stay alive. he denied doing it, but his mouth and hands were blue, and the porta shitters were empty.

This sucks to hear. Going off a cliff is every MX/Offroader's worst nightmare.

Condolences to their friends and families.
