Either they buy from someone else, or just dont buy at all. I guess the Saudi's are having second thoughts and are going to produce more oil.

Someone had a discussion of ecnomics with the Saudi's and they decided being rich in volume was better then being poor.

I think they are seeing the big picture. If the speculators continue and the price of gas increased globally, no one will be buying from them any more. Remember there's Europe and China as well. All business cares when a large contingency of its customers say we cant afford you anymore.

Will you still commute to work when Gas is $10? Its nearing $8 in Europe. Add transportation costs, everyone looses. They care.

I bet they finally got a translation of Syriana, the scene where Matt Damon says:

But what do you need a financial advisor for? Twenty years ago you had the highest Gross National Product in the world, now you're tied with Albania. Your second largest export is secondhand goods, closely followed by dates which you're losing five cents a pound on... You know what the business community thinks of you? They think that a hundred years ago you were living in tents out here in the desert chopping each other's heads off and that's where you'll be in another hundred years, so on behalf of my firm I accept your offer.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

So funny.
They're going to fuck us coming, and fuck us going. All the big wigs know what's up.

We could be independent if we wanted, but why aren't we?

This country is a joke.

What makes you think Exxon, et al. would sell Anwar oil to Americans? They will sell to whoever gave the highest profit. They obviously don't give a hoot about Americans. Drill for oil is a meme started by oil men for the sake of higher profit. Has nothing to do with energy independence.

Because it's the law. They have to at least attempt to sell to US companies before going international. Same thing with Canada. There are provisions in NAFTA that say Canada must first offer it's oil to the US (at market value) before selling to any other country.

The same rules also state that it must be sold at market rates to everybody. Including your own country. No subsidies allowed.

You wind up drilling in your own country and it won't save you a dime over what you're paying now. Except maybe the freight charges.
