Ever been to Gatorback and thought that big pond/lake in the middle is a little bit too close to the track??? Well during a C class race at Mini O's, it finally happened.....

The rider was Richie Trevelise...

Hell, that's the easy side.........

Imagine if it happened on the side where they come down from the elevator .........

Alway heard it was about 40' deep along the wall.

Some of those Florida rock pits are 60 feet deep! Use to swim in them, on those hot summer days. You can see the gatorback lake in my photo here.

I remember a guy got killed there one year on a three-wheeler. He wasn't racing, but riding along the upper side and went off the cliff. Late 70s early 80s I think.

Way to go! You have opened up the Pandoras Box now. The EPA will see this, Big Brother is always watching. The entire state will be shutdown, and the whole waterway system and drinking supply will be quarrantined. Due to, in the words of goverment of goverment officials, THOUSANDS of gallons of highly toxic fuel spewing into the watershed. Consequently, since it is a diabolical threat of biblical proportions to the health of the public, and future contaminations can NOT be risked, there shall be no more "Motor Cross" in the State of Florida.

Mason Phillips did the same thing up here in New England a few years ago at a track named Jolly Roger.

Start gate faced a little pond and the track swept left away from it.......Phillips tried to get outside Dowd for the holeshot.
Got a little too far outside.......lol.

Reminds me of the picture of Rick Burgett at Lake Huron at the 79 Golden State race. Him and his bike were seperated flying about 20 in the air over the water.

EPA, Yeah right they use to dump cars in these rockpits in 1960s and 70s. I would swim down and see them.

Yes there was a person killed riding a 3 wheel bike in the late 1970s, he was on the cliff and the bike fell off. About 100 feet drop I think , maybe with the 3 wheel on top?
