Sorry for those that don't like Craigslist adds, but it's the off season and I found this one to be rather interesting.

I just don't get the obsession with putting 2 stroke motors into modern aluminum frames, they handle just fine in the frames they come from the factory in.

For that matter, if set up correctly, the 2005 KX 250 is one of the best handling bikes ever IMO

I tend to agree except for the 500 motors as those chassis were wide and outdated. as to the 4 stroke frames, one of my buds has a Service Honda in a late model CR250f chassis and my 500AF in an 03 CR125 chassis handles better. A chassis designed to work with a top heavy 4 stroke might not be the best choice for a 2 stroke motor.

The aluminum frame makes it "trick" and a "1 off", but doesn't necessarily make it better. I owned an 02 CR250 back in 05, it was a smokin (no pun intended) deal in cherry condition, and while I loved the bike, I dumped it after 1 season. Why? Vibration. 20 minutes and my hands were numb. Brutal. I could ride my CR500 for twice as long with no effects whatsoever. Well, except fatigue. Not certain that high revving 2-strokes and the aluminum frame are the answer. Having said that, it was the only one I ever rode. And it was a Honda. Are the other brands any better?

I wouldnt want to hit any jumps on a bike with an alu frame that has been cut and welded back together by joe dickhead as a side project.

Its not that hard to do if you knw how to weld aluminium ....... heat treating will male it 100% perfect but it doesnt in fact have to be heat treated to work.....the annealing process of the metal changes in a small area where the weld was made .....other than that they are not difficult to weld. Would you rather a steel chromoly welded frame by joe dickhead instead? Kind of the same thing IMO

The obsession is that the stock japanese 2-strokes look vintage. All about the appearance.

it's not hard to look at an aluminum weld and tell if it is sound or not. and it's not like the welds on these bikes were anything great to begin with.

I would think this would make the bike handle worse. It looks a little weird the way its set up too.

I couldnt agree with you more. why would you put a engine with 45-50 horsepower into a chassis designed for 30-35 horsepower. i believe MXA did a test on the Af Honda and also a stock cr500 and they said the stock one handled better

Funny he mentions that it isn't "redneck build", when I read the misspelling of "Chassis " as 'Chassy' what came to mind was "here;s another redneck hillbilly hack job for sale"

" Oh woe to you, oh earth and sea
for the devil sends the beast with wrath
Let him who hath understanding
reckon the number of the beast
His number.............is mps.500af.com!
Pity the poor son-of-a-bitch that EVER buys ANYTHING off that clueless dick. Mr. Retardo just cranks out GARBAGE. Don't EVER consider buying anything off that clown, unless maybe it's used parts off e-bay from the bikes he parts out to make A/Fs.
"If it's not a Service built bike, it IS a hackjob"?? Seriously? How you doin, AJ?! Apparently you have signed up on a second account as well. I 'll bring that to GuyBs attention immediately.
Wow. karterron, perhaps you should stick to your field of expertise in karting. Because apparently, your pool of knowledge about AF construction is more like a puddle. One that a sparrow couldn't take a bath in on a rainy day. I've seen firsthand some of Service Hondas work, and while they look awesome in photos, the workmanship is a long way from being justification for the price they charge for the those bikes. Pretty sad really. Kudos for offering the product and keeping the 2-stroke alive, but it's just wrong when some of welding I've seen is let out the door. If that was my business, I'd be completely embarrassed to think I was taking 10 grand of someones money and THAT was the finished product they were receiving.

I can certainly attest to that. Just do the small suspension adjustments from track to track and the bike will go wherever I point it.

But come on.. You can buy 3 year old grenaded 250F with an average at best handling chassis cobbled together with a 7 year old engine presumely salvaged from a basket case for the price of a year old 250SX which is superior in pretty much every way. Will he accept Paypal?

I'd have to disagree, Cam. Those 09 Kaws handled well with a set of reduced offset triple clamps. I rode one stock and I was REAL happy with it. Bit of a push to it in corners. I'd buy that bike in a heartbeat, if it was the one I was looking for, and it was well built. But I already have a CR500.
