It was all about January 8th back then, the article on the race also has a cool interview with RC at the Anahiem press conference. The hype for that race was incredible! And a lot of what RC said in his interview came true...

Great race! The vibe was fantastic. It was electric when practice finally went out and RC pinned it in the slop at home plate to huck that triple on his 250 Zook with little run up.

Had the gas card for that event and was there with my oldest son. Got to meet Rob Andrews, Paul Malin and Gary Freeman, who graciously lent me his 300 to shoot from the press box. Spinner was there too, wired on about a gallon of Mountain Dew from the dispenser. Great times.

The first turn showed you everything you needed to know about RC, all the hype was about Stewart and Stewart looked like he had the edge going into turn one, but RC refused to let off and took Stewart wide.... A huge statement right from the drop of the gate.

I flew out there to help wrench for a privateer from Arizona. They pulled names out of a hat to choose which privateers got to ride. My guy didn't get in so that was that! I had a hell of a time though and remember MC leading and the place going crazy!

Here are some pics that I still have on my computer.

MC's CR250 was sooooo sweet! Look how clean it is!

I can't remember if Pastrana or Windham came in this car.

Same thing. This is the privateer Justin Myers from AZ that I was helping.

It was coming down hard all day!

A few MCM2 team VET members from www.zone.com flew out and I hooked them up with front row Club level seats for this race. We all drove down from Big Bear during a blizzard, then the flood on the 57 west. We sat in the driving rain all day and night watching practice and the race. Man that was epic. I will never forget the rain pouring down the back of my umbrella into my pants.

I was there on the 1st baseline. I loved it when RC wacked that triple through that deep muddy rut.

FTE ...I believe we met that night in the press box. I was with Dan Jannette, Denny Stephenson and the Moto XXX guys. Fond memories for sure.

RC launching that triple was one of the most spectacular displays of skill and testicular fortitude ever seen.

Was there also! My 1st and only trip US thus far... When JS7 hit that triple before the whoops, my jaw dropped. It was soup out there.
