Read this article that direct posted on their website.... http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-1029-ct-standoff-20111029,0,69938… in a nutshell these channels aren't popular enough for them to keep!!!!! Take the time to let them know on twitter or their website how popular they are

Yep they don't want to pay for speed or fuel that's what the big bitch is about.....they will pay for fucking glee but not mc and sx!!!!! Every motored in America needs to let them know what they think... Without direct those channels wouldnt reach as many would hate to see it trickle down to us and the coverage going back to what it used to be

I got sick of the moto channel roulette a few years ago and dumped dish/cable for good when I discovered torrents.

Direct has stated that they only want certain fox channels...FX and fox broadcast...the others aren't popular enough for direct to pay for....news Corp only wants to sell the bundled channels...that news article was copied from direct's web site...if they feel it was accurate and agree with it their pr people wouldn't have used it....

This was pulled from a NASCAR board but pretty much says what is happening:

A dispute between DirecTV and Fox could impact NASCAR fans and leave them without the Speed Channel.

The Wall Street Journal reports that an agreement between DirecTV and Fox ended Sept. 30 but both sides agreed to an extension. The Wall Street Journal reports that the extension was pulled Thursday, so DirecTV or Fox could pull the channels after 10 days.

DirecTV states that News Corp. wants DirecTV customers to pay about 40 percent more for Fox channels that include Speed, FX, Fuel TV, Fox Soccer and 19 regional sports networks. The Fox broadcast network and Fox News are not affected by this dispute because of separate deals for them.

Should this dispute impact Speed Channel, DirecTV customers could lose out on various NASCAR programming and on-track coverage, including the truck race from Texas on Nov. 4.

A NASCAR spokesperson stated Friday that “We’re closely monitoring the situation and staying in touch with our TV partners.’’(pilotonline.com)

I haven't had speed TV in awhile but they always show all the good stuff at weirdo times.

Speed TV to motorsport is what MTV is to music.....yeah nascar is a sport but theres more to motorsport then NASCAR.

I remember a few years ago you could watch motoGP, MX and a tractor pull in the same day..

I also miss ESPN speed world as well.

I am not so sure of that. I think they want Fuel, Speed, FX, and the Fox sports channel. There have the NFL ticket and make money off of sports.

So you can call Direct tv and tell them you will leave. Then will not negotiate as well and then the cost of Direct TV will go up. Let them negotiate, and if there is a short time black out, oh well. If they dump the channels which I doubt they want to do then you have to jump ship. No matter how you look at it. If fox wins, we lose because Direct TV will pass the cost on to us. If Fox loses, we DTV people will have to dump contracts and move, and Fox will have a lot less money because DTV will not be paying them a red cent meaning that Speed FX Fuel, Fox Sports could cut programming because they are not making as much money.

I just hope they figure it out and make it equitable for both

They are jacking up my price from 30 to 70 since I signed a 2 year agreement .....if they pull even fx I hope this gives me an out on that contract since they are not providing ALL the channels I originally signed up for

The same exact thing happened with Dish Network last year. Both sides were playing chicken until the last minute, then they signed a deal and we didn't lose any channels. Hopefully the same thing happens with Direct TV, otherwise, they may lose a lot of market share as everyone that loves sports jumps to Dish Network.

If MXSports was concerned, and the way this has been presented, they should be, we would have at least seen something on RX or here.

They have 30 channels of televangelists and infomercials telling women they'll look like Heidi Klum if they buy the right bra but they want to drop the only two channels I give a damn about. I'll be having that discussion with them today.

What sites are the best?

This is just a money grab. These telecom corps are some of the largest companies in the world.

I can't wait for the day when we no longer need a television provider, everything should be (and hopefully will soon be) accessible through the web.

i wonder if fox wants more money because fuel is going to have UFC on there. i wouldnt be surprised if they want more money just for this reason. after all people have to pay for PPV UFC, and that would be free. there will be a huge exodus of directv customers to at t and comcast if this goes down.

Don't think so, they don't promise a particular chanel, but I would try it. If they trully are raising your rate (and not because a promotion you took ended) then you should be able to get out of your contract that way.

And someone pays for those channels either the church, or the profit made from the infomercials. They will not go away. Direct TV is paying Speed to rebroadcast their show. I would wait until they cut the channels, then have the discussion, again, if we force their hand, they may raise our rates. Personally I like Direct TV and Dish Network too and go back and forth once the contract is up to get new hardware and promo pricing, just like I go back and forth between Sprint and Verizon, it is stupid but thats the way it works and I will play the game so I can get lower pricing.

I think most people would, I know I would if Speed, Fuel and FX go away but I am in a contract, and if they don't have the channels back by the SX season, I will pay the 150 dollar cancel fee to switch and never go back to Direct TV. But really, I don't think DTV is going to let these channels go, at least for the long haul.

Where do you think all of the web content comes from? Allied and Fuel get that content from the same place and if you think they will be able to pay for all the programming just for fuel, I think that is a pipe dream. The web gets the bread crubs fallen from the table of the telecoms. That may change someday but I don't think in the next 20 years.

Only if they want pay the early cancellation fee from their contracts which is almost 300 I think and goes down 20 dollars per month. There is a reason you sign a contract for direct tv and dish. There is no contract for comcast or the cable company, but their hardware including HD and DVR are garbage, programing is garbage and really the only reason the carry most of the stuff they have now is to compete with Dish and Direct TV. Their picture quality is garbage as well, at least when you compare them to satellite I am not sure if that is due to bandwidth problems, or bad, old, out of date hardware, probably both.
