A dispute between DirecTV and Fox could impact NASCAR fans and leave them without the Speed Channel.
The Wall Street Journal reports that an agreement between DirecTV and Fox ended Sept. 30 but both sides agreed to an extension. The Wall Street Journal reports that the extension was pulled Thursday, so DirecTV or Fox could pull the channels after 10 days.
DirecTV states that News Corp. wants DirecTV customers to pay about 40 percent more for Fox channels that include Speed, FX, Fuel TV, Fox Soccer and 19 regional sports networks. The Fox broadcast network and Fox News are not affected by this dispute because of separate deals for them.
Should this dispute impact Speed Channel, DirecTV customers could lose out on various NASCAR programming and on-track coverage, including the truck race from Texas on Nov. 4.
A NASCAR spokesperson stated Friday that “We’re closely monitoring the situation and staying in touch with our TV partners.’’(pilotonline.com)
no more nascar!!
BUT
No more F1. No more live SX. No more live MX. No more Inside the Moto. No more (ahemm) Bubbas World. No more Red Bull X-Fighters.
Speed TV to motorsport is what MTV is to music.....yeah nascar is a sport but theres more to motorsport then NASCAR.
I remember a few years ago you could watch motoGP, MX and a tractor pull in the same day..
I also miss ESPN speed world as well.
So you can call Direct tv and tell them you will leave. Then will not negotiate as well and then the cost of Direct TV will go up. Let them negotiate, and if there is a short time black out, oh well. If they dump the channels which I doubt they want to do then you have to jump ship. No matter how you look at it. If fox wins, we lose because Direct TV will pass the cost on to us. If Fox loses, we DTV people will have to dump contracts and move, and Fox will have a lot less money because DTV will not be paying them a red cent meaning that Speed FX Fuel, Fox Sports could cut programming because they are not making as much money.
I just hope they figure it out and make it equitable for both
DC is like that, you know.

I can't wait for the day when we no longer need a television provider, everything should be (and hopefully will soon be) accessible through the web.
