It was damn hot here this today, 93 when left the house to go to the race and I'm sure it was hovering right around 104 and it was humid. I just gotta say that Ryan is mighty impressive out there and is an absolute monster on that 250f, the guy looks like he never lets off the throttle and is only limited by the amount of horsepower his bike has and looked like he could have raced another moto if he had wanted, while everyone else was dying from the heat. James looked very impressive also and it's going to be mighty fun when these two guys race each other outdoors, because they are by far the fastest in their classes. I'm very disappointed to see how Canard is doing though, I figured he'd be better outdoors, but he's clearly outclassed by Villopoto and is nowhere near his speed, maybe he needs a year to figure this outdoor game out, but he certainly isn't showing much right now. The heat sure does separate the players from the pretenders though.

Im expecting him to be up against JS when he steps up to the 450class. His practice time was faster than the top 3 450 guys, excluding JS.

Canard crashed right off the bat in the first moto and rode the entire moto with a concussion.

BTW, it wasn't 104. Whomever said that must have had their thermometer out in the direct sunlight. The high in Wortham was 95 today.

Villopoto has Stewart speed. The dude never backs off the throttle at all, even when he goes through a whooped-out section, he just keeps it WFO and lets it hit the rev limiter. Unreal speed.

Well! I can certainly understand James Fans to be in disagreement as to whether Villopoto is as fast as him or not. They went through terrible times when James was competing against Carmichael and now that he's retired, don't like the idea of someone as fast as Villopoto coming to make trouble for JS. I can tell you that in a 30 minute+ 2 lap moto Villopoto aboard that 250f would have given James all he could handle on his 450 in the heat out there today. Villopoto is only 20 and James is 23, so Ryan has 3 years of catching up to do, but from just seeing the two of them today in person, Villopoto is all the rider James is and maybe more.

I think the question is how long will it take RV to "not" back off of the throttle on a factory 450 in race conditions? It's obvious he can do it on a 250f. Will RV be immune to any growing pains at all when he moves up.

RV is clearly a cut above in his class, but I find it hard to believe that he's just gonna walk in and challenge James...it's gonna take time. How easy we forget just how special James is. I think James will still have his comfortable 10-20 seconds on RV too after 30+2.

I could be wrong; I was wrong about Josh Hill in Supercross.

Damn Stewart is just another fast guy....okay another really fast guy. What about Lawrence, Stroupe..or Alessi, Ferry, Windham? It's not like JS is leaving the gaps he's capable of...or maybe he is.

Right now, I think Dungey could be a canidate to run with Stewart on the 450. But...only time will tell.
Dungey looked really good today but he wasn't going RV speed. Dungey rides smoother, picks better lines, is probably a little more consistent, and has terrific endurance - but RV does one thing better; he holds the throttle open longer. His speed is amazing.

It's all speculation right now, James is the man right now aboard the 450's and he's used to racing them, where as Villopoto isn't and you do have to ride the two bikes differently. It could just as easily be said that James would probably be beaten by Villopoto if he was to try enter the lights class and race him aboard a 250f. Let's just say for arguments sake, James is the fastest 450 rider and Villopoto is the fastest 250 rider and noboby this side of the Atlantic or the other could beat Ryan, including that Cairoli guy.

BTW, it wasn't 104. Whomever said that must have had their thermometer out in the direct sunlight. The high in Wortham was 95 today.
It was the "official thermometer" they had at the track and it will be in all the press releases.
They announced it at 104 several times and even said it at the end of the day that 104 was the official temp of the day.
Yesterday was hot too but today was hotter.

I remember so much talk about RV's wrist and how it was going to affect his riding. If anything, he looks faster and even more aggressive than last year and YES! he goes through corners like nobody I've ever seen. If he COULD ride a 450 that way, he will be amazing to watch on one.

You don't bring a gun to a knife fight, James was only doing what he needed to. If you were listening or at the race you heard them talking about how much he was dialing it down when he got out front. We used to have a guy like that in supercross sprint to the lead and coast, his name was "McGrath". By the way I'm a Carmichael fan.

Villopoto dialed it down also, gapped the field huge and then went on Cruise Control, but his Cruise Control is everyone elses Balls out speed.

Correct. Neither of them have anyone in their class that can run with them. I was glad to see James riding smart, there's no point in winning by one minute plus.

I'm here to tell you that their "official thermometer" must have been sitting in direct sunlight because there's no way in hell it was 104 today. I was there and I parked in the shade under a big pecan tree. The thermometer in my truck read 95 when I got in it at 4:00pm today and the thermometer in my truck has always been dead nuts accurate.

I don't think James was hanging it all out like he did when RC was on him. I bet James had more in the tank, he just didn't need it today.

No doubt James was cruising...only at turbo speed. He barely broke a sweat and still ran away from the pack.

Both RV and James in the whoops were unreal. Nobody even close to their speed.

104 by a real weather station in Texas is unbearable. It wasn't like that today. I'd say 95 at the most. Plenty hot, don't get me wrong, but just a normal June day. Nice breeze, too.

Bubba definitely rode conservatively today and that made the 450 racing interesting for about eight laps. Maybe Bubba read my post last week and held up a little so that there was a decent show for the fans.

Maybe, but Mikee is going to have some experience on him chasing JS all year.
I am just kind of pissed because RV is making the 250 F class as boring as JS is making the 450's.
Look at the lap times. the little class would be a barn burner every week w/o RV and the 450 class would be much more interesting with him. I hope the France family fixes this soon.

Bubba's riding smart now, not trying to kill it every lap like he did in the past. To finish 1st, first you must finish. Villopoto is fast, no denying that....but the 450 is a different animal.
