Josh was blessed with a second chance in his troubled career - he was handed a full Pro Circuit ride - the new Josh Hansen seemed humble, grateful and sporting a new attitude.

Fast forward to the 2011 Monster Energy Cup press conference - when the mic was handed to Josh - from my perspective he was both cocky and disrespected his fellow riders with his arrogant comment regarding "not giving a shit if he takes out/crashes other riders" - what I saw and heard was the old Josh Hansen.

The funny thing is - after Josh publicly disrespected his fellow riders at the press conference I was quite amused to see Josh limping off the track after take a major digger during practice- it looks like this kids riding ability is falling part again.

And yes Josh had minimal prep time for the MEC!!! Why? he has been off the motorcycle due to taking a digger on his bmx bike!!

Does Josh have the DNA a Champion?

Is Josh a "Contender" or "Pretender" ?

Does Josh know how to properly prepare for a successful championship level effort?

In the press conference, I think it was less about disrespecting the other riders than it was to make it fun and get people talking.

Championship? In the 450 class? Everyone has a chance before the gate drops at A1.

I know some of the cockier riders really chap some asses, but you're doing yourself a disservice hoping they're humbled by injury.

IMO....
His job will be to make all the mains and and put in a solid 19(if lapped) or 20 laps at every round in the main.
If he does that ,he will be doing his job at H&H.Anything better is a bonus....top 10's,top 5's podium's etc..
He is a very talented rider, smooth & fast....but consistency within his career has not been there.
I think he can have a solid season if he stays injury free and keeps his head into the game and wants to do good.
He then can use that as something to build off of....

Josh is Josh, I don't think there's an old or new one. Incredibly talented rider.

Really?

there is no old or new Josh..... hes still a punk ass. The slightly more humble, hardworking, Josh you saw under the PC tent... that was because Mitch will happily put his foot up any riders ass if he thinks they are slacking, his give a fuck is broke in that area. He doesnt care who you are, or what you can do on a bike, or how much money sponsor X is paying him, act according to mitch's standards or hes going to straighten your ass out fast - or punt you out the door.

The real question is, can the OG Kdub be a hardass like mitch to a guy thats his friend? Kenny, for all his talk on the show, is actually a very caring, loyal, and compassionate guy. Can he put a foot up Josh's ass when, not if, he goes hollywood, thats the question.

IMO, no, for two reasons. #1, Kenny can't. Its not in him to be hard and stomp a mudhole when needed. #2 Kenny is not mitch, he doesnt have that force of will that mitch projects, the brook no nonsense, presence.

The only way Josh has a chance is if Carey puts him on a very short leash, and curbstomps his ass the first time he gets his bro attitude wound up. Otherwise, history is going to repeat itself. :/

The only punk ass I see is the one who gets amused when riders get hurt.

I hate to say it but every time Hanson goes down, no matter who I'm around, it's always the same reaction. "Good, I can't stand that guy" is the normal response. I don't think I've ever watched a race where, people around me, we're rooting for him in a positive way.

People just don't like him and I don't think it will ever change. Might as well play the FU image like Mr. Perfect in WWF or like a character that plays the role of "I hate you too"!

Fans love to hate so it would probably make him more popular! Woohoo

Lets say its race day,

Sherwood and Jack Schit are on the gate - Jack is taking Schit to Sherwood about taking him out!

Jack goes on to eat schit and crashes out of the moto!!!!

Too me... that circumstance creates an amusing out come.

Josh talked some schit in the MEC press conference and ending up taking himself out - its that circumstance in which this situation is amusing - not actually that Josh got hurt.

And yes..... I'm a nit picker

Not sure about the exact extent...
He only did 4 laps in his first practice...(not sure why he pulled off early).
He then came out in practice #2 and did a couple big whips off the freestyle ramps.
Then on the first lap of practice at the end of that roller section (where some of the other guys had some nasty crashes at) he went down pretty hard. I believe he twisted his knee up pretty good.
The Monday after I do know he was still in pain & limping...But as for details of the injury,no one has said anything more.

You guys don't know what he's been through.

I think one challenge he will face (that comes with much stiffer competition), is staying focused if he isn't in the spot light and at the centre of the media's attention. Of course, leading the West Coast champs for most of the season is no easy feat, but throw Bubba, Dunge, RV & Stewart.. + Canard in the mix. A top 5, or even 5th place is a VERY respectable place to finish. But I wonder if it would feel half as exciting or rewarding being a small fish in a bigger pond. I'm sure, if things are going your way, its easier to keep focused and keep on the straight and narrow cause your reaping the rewards. Just wonder over a full season, if he's not in that podium spot light, if that could make a difference to his focus.

Since he did win races last year there's a good case for giving the guy a good ride. Don't forget he's been in the 450 class before with bad results. Even once with Hart and Huntington already, before that with Joe Gibbs. Josh will be fast in a heat or two and best case he finishes 7th in a main event one time this year. I predict he won't be much better than he was in 2008 and 2009, maybe a bit.

Everyone says he wasn't prepared for the race and he got hurt in practice but that's no excuse. How many months has he had to prepare for the MEC? I understand he got hurt but maybe if he had been practicing for the last couple months, it might not have happened. Mitch must have been pretty proud of him for not preparing all these months for a very important race sponsored by their #1 sponsor.

If I remember correctly he was injured during summer and was cleared to race not too long before MEC. I`m sure somebody has more info on that.

In the pre MEC interview he made mention of mitch still being the boss back at home. I'm sure he realizes mitch is an asset to have in your corner, and hopefully he continues to hear the words coming out of mitch's mouth. If josh can stay focused, his potential can take him very far. That's a BIG if though. I wish him the best of luck. Always been a big fan

You mean before his BMX bike accident?
Not sure how much he rode during the summer or when that bmx bike accident happened, but it is why he said he wasn't prepared. But from the scars...looked like he tore up his face pretty good...not sure if a concussion was involved or not,or any other injuries. Also not sure when he got his 2012 bike or not...if it was before or after the BMX accident.
But he did say he only had a few days to test/get prepared.

And for guys wondering about his knee...he just sent this like 20 minutes ago.
"joshhansen100: I need to see dr G ASAP. Knee is no good...#onthecouch Sad "
