Premixed, when did I ever say no one would watch a 125cc race? And when did I say no one would watch a Women's race? What I said was that people leave before the last moto because it's the end of the day, and some don't have an interest in the girls' second moto. I think you would see the same thing if there was a 125cc moto.

And the argument that Alessi and Townley don't have rides because WMX is taking resources is ridiculous.

DC
MX Sports
never said they don't have rides because of wma, but I did say wma is taking resources from the main show... I'd rather see somebody like Townley or Morais, or whoever riding that factory Honda 250f. My thought is most fans would probably rather see all of the resources being used to help the main attraction at a National event. This is a meaningless topic, as you've already said wma isn't going anywhere, but it's fun to argue about.

Six rounds WMA and six rounds 125 sounds really good to me. My question would be what would it really take to see the 125 class happen? Yamaha still makes one, KTM obviously saw a need to bring theirs back, Husqvarna has new headquarters here in the states and now sells theirs as a 125 with a150 top end included in the purchase. TM has a new importer and currently produces a 125. Is there really no interest in this? The Euro brands sure seem to have some new found interest in them here in the states and I keep seeing Uncle Donnie's ads in your magazine and others making a strong 2 stroke statement.

Newmann, relax, I am working on it, just not getting as much support for it in the real world as you see here on Vital.

And Haters Suck, AMA Pro Racing in Daytona processes the riders' licenses. And while we run those races, we are not the sanctioning body, and we have as hard a time as anyone with getting rule changes to move forward. Go to AMA Congress and check that process to see for yourself.

Oh, and I didn't catch your name last time....

I say let the top am. Riders race 125 2t's and the good looking wmx riders can mud wrestle in bikinis in between motos so they don't feel left out.

Riiiight, so there is plenty of sponsorship money in this economy? A few of those women have factory level bikes and you know it. So that's at least few top level rides for guys who are out of work and need rides.

Look, womens AMA racing has been around for A LONG TIME and most fans still don't care about it. So why keep trying to shove it down our throats?

I dunno about replacing women's racing, but a restricted 125cc class would sure be a nice platform for up and coming riders to get some national level experience and exposure. Keep the mods limited to make sure the most anyone can have into a bike is $10K or less (claiming rule would be an easy way to do this)...you'd have an affordable class where the 14-17 year olds could learn the ropes and not worry about having to compete against big budget bikles before jumping on the 250s.
Aren't the big amateur events the the place where this happens with respect to riders who eventually will have a chance to run up front in the pros? It's a huge production with probably more resources committed to it than this sort of series would be. Maybe the answer is to have those top tier amateurs run a few rounds at the US Pro Outdoors, if there's a way to do that without diluting the existing amateur structure.

I personally like the idea of bumping the CC's up to 150, Burn, but getting anything passed through the AMA and AMA Congress is harder than it looks. If I was still on the AMA Board, then I could maybe help you out here, but I am not, and I don't know how they feel about your petition. Here's a suggestion: Call an AMA Board member or your AMA Congressman, or maybe even someone like Jeff Cernic.

I don't know if it's been put to a vote or not. I'll try and find the AMA Congressman for my area but the petition has already been presented.

Even so, a 125 class to coincide with the WMA is a more feasible and doable change at this point.

Actually, I am used to being questioned all the time, and I answer as often as I can. What I'm not used to is you hiding behind your anonymity but then coming out to insult me every chance you get.

As for questions, why can't you can't answer this question from one member to another: What is your name?

Yes, Newmann, splitting races might work in the future. We want to try a 19-and-under non-pro class at High Point, hopefully with 125cc two-strokes and big-wheel Super Minis just to include all of the OEMs. Would that be a step you approve of as a trial race?
I tried to get it rolling last year but just didn't have enough time or support. Can't hold a race if no one shows up.

DC, that sounds pretty cool> But one question, I think many of us will have. Why is it, with a 125 class you would need every manufacturer included, but for the 150 4 strokes Honda was it? Thanks.

Well, I think any trial race is a good idea, if it's done the right way. I personally think this will be a landmark action, if it happens. What are the chances of it happening in '12? What if it succeeds? Would this mean more races in the future, or just a one-off race to satisfy the 2-stroke nuts?

Meidos, it was a sponsorship activation last year, no different than the KTM Junior SX Challenge was for a decade, or the Red Bull Rookies Cup. But for our races it didn't work the way we hoped, and I think it would be better if it was a class that allowed for other brands, so that's the direction we're headed. Racer X will sponsor it, if we have to, to make it work for everyone.

Since it is gonna really be an off amateur event, couldn't riders also ride older 125's, like a 2007 Honda, or Suz etc as well? I don't have a problem with the super mini's, just thinking they may be outgunned. Either way, I hope it happens, but 1 off events usually have dudded out, and didn't mean a full series would have dudded out the same way. The race/races with RC on the 2 strokes had a strong following, but then it changed to older riders who were off the pace compared to RC. That's when it seemed to fall apart. Had that stayed prior champions on 2 strokes, I think it would have gained a strong following. Emig, Mat, Bradshaw, Lar, Mcg, etc. 6 series event or something, with those guys.

I don't have a problem with older 125s -- we have two of them here at Racer X that Eleven-10 Mods helped us out with. I plan on racing one before the end of the year!

But one step at a time, okay?

I just want all the jackasses here on Vital to witness that DC is actually asking for my approval.....LOL. Just kidding, for all those that can't grasp humor.

But as long as you are asking, I'll approve of any step in the direction of a full blown 125 class. I just don't see a one off race looking as good on an aspiring 250F riders resume as would 125CC National Champion. Elsewhere in this thread, it was suggested I might need to buy you some extra transponders if I expected to see another class on the gate. Just let me know how many are needed, I'll chip in!Wink

Need a holeshot award? I'll chip in for that too.

Meido's you will NEVER be satisfied until its 2 strokes are ridden by the fastest professionals. You want a AMATEUR class, then have an AMATEUR 250F class. Thats what the MAJORITY of all the FAST guys are riding nowadays anyways. DC comes on trying to help......but you keep bitchin trying your hardest to get your 2 stroke way. He already told you that outside of VITAL, theres not that much motivation for the 2 stroke anymore. So PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEE drop it.

Meido's, question, being how the Amateur racing is all CC vs CC, exactly how you want it and one that YOU can participate in......why must the pro's do this? I ask because you finally got what you wanted in the AM's why do the pro's have to follow suit?

Not ALL Amateur racing is under AMA Amateur rules.

Many racing promoters here in So Cal follow AMA Pro rules for displacement, so until CC vs CC is in effect for ALL AMA Racing they will not follow the equal displacement rule.

I haven't been going, nor my friends. So count us in, thus proving you wrong. I guarantee, that these guys on 125's would prove you were wrong. Why you ask? Umm, cuz they are the guys who will be moving up to the big time within a year or two. Big names would be riding. As far as womens, I'm not on the side of getting rid of them either. I'd take Newmanns side. I know I know, but you gotta understand the money side of things. The OEM's are looking at potential female buyers. Exactly why they keep pushing the 150R. More women will ride that compared to a 125 or 250F even. But until it becomes an accepted bike, via rules pushed through by Honda to AMA, it ain't happenin. Money talks folks. We are the 99% Occupy MX ha ha.

Really, how bout if big name amateur, rides for a bike company that doesn't make a 125 anymore? They have to ride old bikes?

So here is a question.. Loretta Lynns, how many people go there to watch the racing. Not counting family and friends of riders. Biggest amateur race of the year, wonder what the gate numbers are for those who just show up to watch? I'm guessing it isn't that impressive, just a pure guess though.

I don't know much about LL's, but can say this. In Mendota, when I raced, and they had a lot of local advertisement, they had fans full in the stands. I actually got to do autographs. It was really cool, being a nobody, but signing some kids race book. Anyways, the real question is, how many people have stopped going to the Nationals, because they got tired of the pigs sounds all day. I know I have a group that doesn't go. And 1 of them is a die hard 4 stroker. Well, he probably doesn't go, because I won't go, but we did talk about how the noise sucked, even he agreed. Anyways, I guess on your first part, you'd have to look at the over seas 125 races and see who races what. My guess, is that it would be filled with Yamahas, KTMs etc. I think as an amatuer, you don't really have a signing with any company, so maybe you could race a KTM on saturday and a Suzuki on Sunday? So maybe, just maybe Honda, Kawi and Suz would start making sure their bikes were on the line in that case. Just a thought. When has Honda not made a point to be on the line? If you build it, they will come. I'm from Iowa. LOL. Anways, I've seen someone else that posted he had a group of 100 guys who don't go now. He's a reputable person too. So I take him for his word. He ran a district at one time.
I quit going to millville because of those piles! Theyre never on full song like Ricky on a 250. The same fart sound all around the track! The four strokes have ruined this sport. I miss like hell going to the races but there aint no way in hell i can get my girlfriend to go back again. We went 3 years ago and WOW was she pissed at the sound of those toilets going around the track. Sadly, so was I... Thanks to Combs to getting it streamed, thats awesome cause the sound is muffled quite a bit and I can stand watching it but i dont know if I'm ever going back again?

Kinda a different subject but then they took the 2 day part of it away...AKA no partying and the next thing you know that just eqauls boring as hell for me. Family smamily,if partents cant tell thier kids this stuff happens form time to time they arent very good parents...I cant bring my own beer? Fuck off this is America! I want good beer not that shit 3.2 theyre selling at some beer tent shit! Good luck with that shit. The atmosphere at the races just isnt the same from like say 99 on back...

just ALOT missing!

Yes Newmann that deffinately includes the old 2 stroke there buddy! Keep fighting the good fight!
