Buckley's first crack at bike graphics

Edited Date/Time 1/26/2012 11:02am
A while ago I mentioned to Kim at K-Rae Graphics that I'd like to take a shot at designing a set of MX graphics, her first response was, "Do you even know how to use Illustrator?" but then she said give it a shot and sent me the template for her CR125.

First came a Photoshop comp that I showed to the Buckley Bros (my kids) and got a double "That's sick" response from them.

Now it was time to transfer the PHotoshop design into Illustrator and to tweak the elements to fit into the templates.

Here's the finished product that we shot outside the K-Rae Graphics factory.

I was going for a skater/snowboarder look

Here's an angle I like

This shot show's how I re-shaped the number plate to incorporate some of the airbox

Looks kinda cool with the leaves falling around it

A close up of the swing arm graphic with the new Buckley and K-Rae Graphics logos.

run skate ride repeat

I need a better autograph

The front plate, if I had to redo it I'd make the outlines a little thinner

Another side plate shot, she crashed it before the shoot and put some tiny scratches on day old graphics.

The back fender, I like the 9 on it.

Fork guards with a plug for the k-rae site

Yeah, I still have friends in Japan.

Good stuff, Paul.

I like the rear fender number, too.

Same here. Biggest single impact was that simple number on the fender. Nicely done, sir. If that's a first attempt, you may be on to something here.

The first shot in the leaves is great. Yea, great idea with the number on the fender. On my bike I could use it to take up space where I have no real sponsors.

Great for a first try. I like the style a lot. Can't really read the CR125 part but it's not big deal. Still looks rad.

Haha, yeah me and Kev are like this. No actually it's Kim Bacon, the owner of K-Rae's bike.

Thanks GuyB, I thought I was on to something new but going through some photos I have seen some rear fender numbers but I still like it.

Coming from one of the first guys that I can ever remember running graphics (MXA's?) that's a pretty nice compliment, thanks Digger and sure we could definitely do a set this winter.

You'd think by now I'd know wouldn't you? And the old fork stickers were a bitch to peel off.

looks nice!

Do all the big graphic companies use illustrator?
10/20/2011 5:38am
It would be pretty hard to do graphics without it so probably.
