If James can get his bike dialed in (Whatever brand it may be...) and come in healthy (mentally and physically) he is still a contender for race wins/championships. He hasn't gotten slower, the other guys (Villopoto, Dungey, Canard) have gotten faster. Despite the opinion of others posting on here, I think Stewart is capable of beating Villopoto, but only if he can keep his head in the game. RV2 is on a mighty big wave of confidence that he built right now but he can be beat. Here's the catch: RV can keep it together if he gets in a funk, while it seems to wear down Stewart; and if anyone hasn't forgotten, Reed will be in the mix too and he's capable of race wins/championships as well. We shouldn't count Reed out either. Regardless of all our opinions, I think 2012 is gonna be even a better season than 2011 was, and 2011 was a great season IMO...

Not Stewart, not Reed, not Canard, not Dungey. No one beat RV1 for a championship this year when he was on his 2011 bike, and since he started riding his 2012, it has been nothing short of a bloodbath. He also put a smackdown on the rest of the world at the MXdN on a track he'd never ridden on before. He's going to come into 2012 about as confident as a rider can be, on a killer bike, and with killer fitness.

No way in hell James Stewart will be him for the title next year. Any title. Occasional individual main events...maybe IF Stewart doesn't pile drive himself into oblivion trying to run with the fast 4. In fact, I'll go so far as to say James Stewart will never win another title in supercross or motocross.

If YOU had a million dollars, who would YOU bet it on to win the title next year?

And to mx757 and every member of the "anyone but Villopoto club"...

Here a big, fat, million dollar F. U.

The main thing here is that Villopoto knows when he's not the fastest in control guy, and takes a 2nd-5th. When Stewart knows he's not the fastest in control guy, he pushes harder, crashes, and loses major points. Sure he's got a high win or crash percentage, but look at the other side of that coin... If he were smart and took 2nd-5th like the other 4 do, that percentage would be much much lower.

That's why we have races. Only James can answer this question.

Yes I think JS7 can step up his game and match the speed of RV. Can he keep it on two wheels? who knows. I hope so. I wanna see some great battles this year again.

I agree with you here....and its not a knock on Bubba at all.....RV is rockin' on that KX and it can't be denied...throw in Canard, Dungey, and Reed, the field is just more stacked than it was in previous years, plain and simple

Im not black and I'm not a JS fan... You talk like you know... you don't... I never said RV was intimidated... I did say, he was aware that the 2012 season hasn't even started yet, and that numbnuts, like yourself, are spewing ignorance, once again... Why don't you let HIS season speak, can you do that?...
Guys like you need to learn to shut it, it will turn out better, I promise...

reed wasnt a worthy competitor to carmicael in 03-05 indoors? windham was easy to beat all the time? he handled your boy stewart well even though in sx i'll admit stewart was faster, but carmicael just applioed pressure and let stewart do the rest lol

Ummmm, did you see what James did outdoors in 2003 after being out 3 races of the MX series? Over his career, and that includes Am. racing, James has never really had a problem with his speed after being out for a number of races. It's not like he is coming back from injury. I sure that he is still riding at home and that has seemed to be good enough FOR HIM to maintain his speed.

I was there that night also... Smile
Reed looked so smooth....
Stewart had some raw speed....faster then RC & Reed but the whoops ate him up.
Reed pressured RC a little & RC slid out.
Reed won that night. With that said he was the best on that night. Not 3rd best.
The gate dropped at the same time for them all...it's up to them after that to keep it on two.

CR, never was a threat for a title... Whatever one wants to believe... Reality tells me, CR was third best...

Everyone has great arguments for yes and no. I'd be temped to say he'll win races but lose the title to consistency but I have a feeling he's gonna be ready come A1. He seems motivated and something just makes me think he's gonna come out on top.

I think if Stewart can back it down a bit and accept the occasional 2nd or 3rd place then he's got a fair chance for the title. It would be good to see if he can win a title under pressure from guys at the top of their game, he tends to either walk the title when there's no competition or get beat when there is.

Going from the past, I think that once again his ego will take over and he'll refuse to accept that he can be beaten 'straight up'. So I predict the same old story unfortunately - he'll have too many crashes and dnf's to be a serious title contender.

This could be his last season IMO, especially if he crashes out of the series - so just enjoy it while he's here. I'm not a fan but I prefer it when he's at the gate as he's a top rider and he's fun to watch.

Sounds pretty jealous to me, and like he is maybe trying to downplay what Poto did last night in a way.... Dude never learns
