Hi All,

Looking to the group for some recommendations for places in PA/NJ/DE where we can ride both MX and trails and stay over (camping).

Looking to do a weekend trip with the gang and wanna check out something new. We have some products to finish testing so we will be doing that too...

Have looked at Rocket and Doublin Gap in PA so far...Anyone ride RR?

Thanks in advance,

Sean

Blue Diamond MX in Delaware has an awesome mx facility, but I don't think you'll find much for trails in that area. There's a place in southern PA called the Breezewood Proving Grounds that's supposed to be pretty cool with a bunch of tracks and lots of trails, but I've yet to make it there.

I like Raceway Park but we want to camp out on premises and ride trails if possible, like at TNT Motorsports in SC. Now that place was prime for this type of trip, but too far away for a weekend, cuts into the seat time.

Sean-

Try these two links for more info:

Pennsylvania Off Highway Vehicle Association then click on the "Where to Ride" button in the menu on the left.

Also,

Rec Rider then click the "Links" button.

Of the places that have both track and trails, Majestic Camp in North Central PA is pretty good.

Hi Sean-

I am in the MD/PA/DE corner and have pretty much look for what you & your friends are looking for as far as a MX & Trail combo.

For that reason, I would highly suggest that you look into Rocket Raceway.

I went about this time last year. I was able to jump back and forth between the MX track and the Hare Scramble loop all day. The Hare Scramble loop was a pretty decent size and varied well in terrain, hills, stream crossings, etc. I want to say it was approx 5-6 miles a loop, but I was fortunate enough to hook up with a local who also showed me old & alternate sections.

Camping was free, but there were no hook-ups. There was tons of room, so you can pick your own corner and make a campfire or hang out with some other campers like I did.
The surrounding area is pretty sparse for provisions, so I would recommend that you stock up on food and supplies long before you get there.
The track owner could not have been nicer or more hospitable. I wish I could recall his name offhand, but I think if you were to call him and tell him you are bringing a group of guys, that he'd do his best to set you up. Obviously since there are races that may be left this year, you may want to work around those dates so you can jump on the MX track. They may also have a close date for the year in the next month or two, so again- you may want to give a call.

A couple years ago, Rausch Creek would have been another suggestion, but it is now gone. I found Rocket to be a fun and more than suitable replacement.

Hope this helps!

If anything check the race track out. The practice track is not worth your time.. if you can check out hurricane hills in pa. The track is awesome. You'd have to call and ask but they have miles and miles of gncc quality trails there.

In NJ there is not many tracks. You have Atco and Raceway Park (Englishtown) basically IDK if Millville is around anymore.
In DE you have basically Blue Diamond, Seaford, Snake Creek, and the Landing (Name changed not sure what it is called now)
PA has a bunch of tracks Pagoda, Dublin Gap, Sleepy Hollow, Rocket, Irish Valley, Evansville and a bunch more check the site they posted above.

As far as trail riding (legally) Dont bother trying in NJ. DE is more relaxed but PA is definately a better bet for that.

Hurricane Hills is awesome Fritz does a great job but Its up northeastern close to NY.

If you really want a place to trailride and moto head further south like North Carolina Motorsports Park, or Durhamtown Plantation, Club MX is sick sick sand. Way more options further down south.

Breezewood Proving Grounds has all the stuff you're looking for. The MX track may not be as good as a strictly MX facility but MX tracks don't have the trails, camping and other family activities Breezewood offers. It might be a little cold for the swimming and water slide this time of year. I haven't been for awhile. I've been told they've made even more improvement. You may want to check out the cabin rentals. Prices are very reasonable.

Rocket is fun...people are nice. It's a hike to get out there though.
I didn't even know Rausch closed. What a bummer. That place was massive.

Could we add CT into the thread too? I know about Rocky Hill, but I was also hoping to find places to trail ride and would be willing to head out to CT if they are around there. Anyone?

Really dont wanna do huge road trip - 4 hours max - most of the PA places are 6+ hours

Have already been to Durhamtown and agree it is the BOMB, but too far from us to consider for a weekend...

This thread rocks

Crap. Thanks. That's what I was afraid of. How is Thomason's Dam? I don't have a spark arrestor, so I'd hate to go to all that trouble and money to be disappointed. Thanks for the info!

Actually Thomaston Dam can be really cool, but you have to some kind of ATV registration there now and they enforce it! How they came up with money to chase anyone around on a dirtbike is beyond me.

Welcome to CT, one of the most unfriendly dirtbike states in the USA

Thank you, MXEditor! I appreciate your information as well. I think you've motivated me to get my registration and arrestor in order.
