What happened to the Nor Cal moto scene. The only rider I know of at this time is Austin Howell out of Red Bluff.

Once upon a time there was a bucket load of talent from Nor Cal.

Lackey, Tuner, Magoo, Schultz, Richter, Wosick, Cantaloupi, Myers, Smith, Lamson, Vohland, Moore to name a few.

No offense to Austin Howell. The kid hauls ass. But what gives.

Bob, call Rodney and ask him WTF

I feel like each region goes through phases where a bunch of fast guys will emerge then the next are lackluster at best

Very few riders out of District 6 have made SX mains

Our best ever were Tony Distefano and Jason Lawrence

Then theres places like the southeast which have tons of fast riders coming up constantly

Another place that comes to mind is Texas..I feel like more fast riders should come out of there..its hot all the time, plenty of tracks..

Can't believe I forgot Casey & SpudSad I grew up with those guys, good call. Brandes showed signs of brilliance when he was pulling top fives in outdoor. But much like Morais, he couldn't get that win.

Saw you mention Coupe in another thread.... Coup is 50 or 51 and I'd be surprised if he doesn't still haul the mail.

Jeff Pestana, Pat Gomm, Jon Nicolaus, Steve Mertens, and that kid who's girlfriend wrenched for him a few years ago on KTMs, I can't remember his name but he was outside of Salinas.

And of course if 16th O/A in the Vet Jr. class at Mammoth is any indication of speed....then me!!! I grew up in Nor-Cal....

Seriously though, the same thing happened to NorCal as is happening in a lot of places. What happened to the El Cajon zone? What happened to the Santa Clarita Valley? What happened to Europe!?!?!? (I'm kidding with that last one)

Nah not Vickers...Hey Clutchy I'm a hard core Nor Cal person, I spent many a races all over Nor Cal, a lot of my friends were up there that I grew up with so I'd be up there just as much as down here. Doreen Payne was my best friend, along with Tammy Graham and was it Trina Vohland (Tyson & Tallon's sis) ??, MB and I dated for over a year, hence I hung out with Spud & Casey Johnson, Turtle Wikoff, I loved driving the water truck at E-Street !! All the promoters up there I have mad respect for they work their asses off and I like to think they are all good friends too.

Lot's of other riding opportunities besides four lap motos and inconsistent promoting/track op at the ground level, combined with the shift to minis for pro development. There was money to be made on purses at local races; now the brass ring is a mini support contract that focuses on big races far away from norcal. A lot of the guys mentioned from the early days come from the pre-mini era. Shoot, Bobby M was on a open bike.

Or maybe it's the good dope.

You better know I was kidding ( I'm sure you do ). I just have always equated you with So Cal. You truly are Cali moto.. Tammy Graham, are you kidding me, I'm having to think we met back in the day then cause Tammy was one of my best friends all growing up, just down the street. Also Ramie Sexton....
