I thought Dungey had spent the start of last season and this season struggling with his bike?

minus the dnfs dungey would be dual title holder again. once again for you slow fuggers...is it a better RACE bike?

dungey won exactly one sx race last year...can he improve that against the same competition on the ktm.

I think he'll struggle with the new bike/engine... But I believe he and Roger will make it as good as anything out there at some point during the season.

I doubt that KTM would make that huge of an effort and investment with the expectation of losing. Both Roger and Ryan. Roger is pretty savvy and I don't think he would jump ship just for cash. He could have probably gone to any team. Will the effort pay off in the first or second season? Maybe not, but I honestly think they will be very competitive this year against the big 4. One major reason I think they will be better to race for is the distance from trackside to the top office is a lot shorter than with the Japanese. If things need to get changed, adjusted, developed, whatever, the turn around time at KTM is going to be faster. And they are a proven bike everywhere else, so with the right talent I don't see any reason why they wouldn't have just as good a shot at success as anyone else.

Speculation would say no.

Dungey's situation boils down to so much more than the bike. DeCoster, Goose, DNF's, an almost DNS, Webb, and so much more from 2011.

IMHO the bike will be on par with his Suzuki and his results will be similar to this year. People here don't realize how much development has gone into KTM and MX. I know SX is somewhat different but this ain't Roger and Ian's first rodeo.

I think it is ridiculous how you hate KTM so much.

So the Suzuki has two DNF's and you are asking if the KTM is a better bike. I didn't see any of the KTM riders DNFing in Europe this year.............Man had he been on a KTM this year he wouldn't have had those two DNFs and would be Champion................................................aha.

If RD and RD can't make the KTM work, then nobody can. I fully expect Dungey's results to be comparable to last season. If Dungey can get his mojo back, and the team can keep the bike on the track, there's no reason to believe that he can't be a title threat.

factory ktm will be pretty soon in america......
not too long ago the same dought were on everyones minds here in europe, not anymore......
the brand commitment to motocross racing and the link between production lines and recing teams are just much bigger then all others, its just a matter of time for them to make it in usa, it is their target now...!!!!!!

p.s. i not a ktm fan, i would buy any jap before ktm, even if i find yamahas to be really ugly, but i really respect the effort ktm puts into all off-road racing, they are good for our sport......!!!!!!!!

For SX it is a huge unknown considering it is a brand new as of now prototype bike and KTM has never raced 450sx at a high level.

Outdoors I would think KTM knows a thing or two.

Better? Maybe not. Worse? I would say yes in SX.

Don't remember seeing him at Red Bud but your comment was close to being relevant. We are discussing AMA Pro Racing under AMA Pro Racing rules and whether or not KTM has a positive program for elite riders. They make a good bike and they are winners at many levels and in many disciplines but what about top level riders under the AMA rulebook? Are they helping riders achieve another level of excellence or even reach their potential or is KTM stealing prime championship seasons from riders with a team and a bike that fail to measure up? I, personally, would rather see the best riders on the best equipment and not wonder if someone could have won if the bike/team were better. Maybe this year they will reach that level but I'm uneasy about Dungey being competitive this season.

he jumped for cash, i heard he wasnt getting paid squat @ suzuki (i dont know how much though)

in comparison to other sports, these guys have short careers and need to capitalize as much as possible when they are in their prime

he's either gonna make moves or this will be career suicide.

no one in the ktm camp this year on the big bikes did anything impressive, short even left to go back to a honda..

dungey will struggle

It would be hard for me to judge without ever riding either one. I think interaction with your team, bike set up, reliability etc should factor in, Dungey lost the championship because of the reliability of the bike and team Suzuki screw ups. Don't matter how good a bike is, without gas or if it wont start it won't run up front.

You have to remeber that Dunge wont be on the same POS 450 Mike was on, he will be on a all new 2013 EFI factory 450.

Bobby, Crash82 makes a good point. Nobody here would know if KTM is better than Suzuki. You would be better asking the racers, not the watchers.

I doubt Dungey would have signed up if he hadn't ridden the bike and had confidence that it would be competitive.

Will it be the best bike on the track? That's a 1 in 5 chance at best, but I bet it will be on par and plenty apable of winning.

"minus the dnfs dungey would be dual title holder again."

Whether it's a better "race" bike probably depends on your (Dungey's) personal experience with the Suzuki. If you were in the position where the bike had "dnfs that cost you dual titles," wouldn't you be interested in trying something new? What if the KTM costs him 2 titles next year? How is that different than what happened in 2011?
