Was supposed to happen last week.
The Hurds were trying to raise the cash before the deadline to stop it. Anyone know what happened?

No offense, but if you have to "raise" $150k in back taxes, you're probably not well enough financed when it comes to owning and maintaining a national caliber track.

From what I heard it was a smart legal move, he owed the $150k +, but had an option to pay the back taxes at a reduced rate all the way up to the day of the auction. Then we had the hurricane come through & that area was definitely affected by it, he possibly may have even gotten some recovery help.

I do know that the weekend after the auction they were holding practice

I miss that race, my wife and kids and I would drive 6 hrs from Canada after work on saturday to watch the race then get up early monday morn. to drive 6 hrs back. It was one of the hilights of our summers, sucks that its gone.

Yes, a great track is a great track, no doubt about it.

And what people have to realize is that if you have a great track in your area, and MX Sports takes away their national race, there's a good chance you're going to lose that track after a little while.

Of course the spotty attendance at the shit track they threw together in haste pales in comparison to the huge loyal crowd that came to Broome Tioga every year, so I hope they're all happy with that. It was a really stupid move...

I liked the Broome-Tioga National too, but Unadilla is an hour away. In fact, I used to stay at the same hotel (Johnson City) for both races! Sorry, but if I had to choose, I'd take Unadilla in a heartbeat.

It just doesn't make sense to have so many of the 'Nationals' concentrated in one area. I think that was the idea behind the changes - to expand the audience (geographically) and give more people across the U.S. a chance to see the riders that some of them have only seen in magazines and on TV.

Same problem with High Point and Steel City. I would expect to see changes here in the future, also.

I live in MD and I hate to see these races go away, but we've been spoiled here in the Northeast for a long time. I guess it was time for us to share. Don't forget that you still have 5 races that you can easily make (Unadilla, High Point, Steel City, Budds Creek and Southwick).

It's weird that they don't have a National in Florida. Beside Gainseville is there any good track that has what it takes to make a ntl?

if any decent track tried to open in FL, Randy Yoho (Dade City) would have it closed. It's happened time and time again, and time and time again he denies it.

winter and early spring climate and domes...Promoters don't have to gamble on attendabce due to weather...SLC slid in their somehow...perhaps something to do with Gov. Huntsman and his pro-off road and racing position.

I think they need another national in the mid west or more southerly. Georgia would be my bet or even in the illinois/ missouri area. I would love to have the Pontiac SX back but they are to busy having them at toronto with shit dirt and 17 people showing up or jacksonville with 32 people showing up. Plus I heard Pontiac had bad lighting for the photographers. Sad

I can feel you're pain but you think Texas/Gulf Coast shouldn't have one and NY has 2 within 1 hour of each other ? You ever been to Freestone ?? While the track might not be the greatest, the facility and the group that runs it is top shelf.

I think Sunset Ridge in Illinois is becoming more deserving of a national. The track and facilities get better each year and they are already proven succesfull with an ATV national and large turnouts for Pro-ams and LL qualies.

Red Bud and Millville pretty much have the midwest wrapped in a srong-hold though so i don't think it happens.

Freestone needs to be taken out. The track is borring, flat, and sucks for spectating.

California doesn't need more than 2 rounds between Hangtown, Pala, Glen Helen. Plus Washagoul makes 3 west coast stops. Glen Helen needs to take over the Pala spot and put the Freestone national in a new market.

What domes are you taling about?
Anaheim doesn't have one, neither did LA or Oakland....I think in the first 7 rounds the only one that had a dome was Houston.

I think there are only 4 stadiums on the SX tour that have domes.

Hold on, Propoganda, Tom Hurd sold his national to Texas long before MX Sports took over the series. It was a deal brokered by Steve Whitelock. MX Sports had nothing to do with it.

As for Glen Helen, they unfortunately canceled their national over numerous issues, but primary among them was the length of term.

Please get your facts straight.

As a kid I always looked forward to the Broome National over the Unadilla National. The jumps, elevation, dirt and viewing experience under the trees was like no other. When the National left I was blindsided as a racer and a fan, but I understood the business that was at hand. It happened overnight and I felt there was meat left on the table and...unfair to the fans in the area that were left uninformed about the departure.

I now understand the importance of the Unadilla National and the history behind it, as well as the work the Robinson family has put into it over the years.

The GOOD NEWS is Broome is still up and running, I'm heading 30 miles down the road tomorrow for a Thursday practice.

Maybe another day, Broome is still open for play!
