first time buying a 450. Is 8,100.00 out the door a good price?

He lives in Cali, that is thrown in for free on all bike purchases in that State.

Completely off topic but would you happen to be related to a Hunter Choate? I remember racing someone with that name years back.

Yes that is a pretty good price if thats out the door, between tax and license that means the dealer isnt making all too much on that one.

I'll answer your question with a question. Does your desire to own a 2012 KX450 outweigh your desire to keep your $8100? It's not really about the price, it's about how much you're willing to spend. Maybe it'll be $500 cheaper 8 months from now but you would have lost 8 months worth of riding your new bike. If you want it, get it.

You could buy Tommy Hahns bike for not much more.

We looked at a 2012 250F yesterday and they wanted like 8500 OTD. Even if I had the money, HELL NO

Ya , my dealer told me it was cost plus tax & lic. But man that just sounds like alot . Retail is like 8400.00 so dealers arent making a whole lotta cash

Dealer cost on that bike is around 7250 this year. so 900 more isn't bad since part of that is tax and licensing, The dealership isnt making much there

$8500 for a 250f? That is nuts. It should be more in the $7,000 range. At least thats what my local dealer shot me anyway.

We we don't even get the courtesy of vaseline. We pretty much get a rusty pole crammed up on every purchase. Not to mention gas prices. Hey at least we have great weather Woohoo

Unfortunately, the dollar has dropped like a rock against the yen.

i'm a cheap fuck.

i bought a brand new 07 CRF450 in 09 for $4700. still riding it. i'll never buy another new current year four stroke though. my 4 year old turd is still competitive in the +25 A class. most shops have the year or two older still in the box and you can get them for dirt cheap. that said, my next bike will be a '12 KTM 250 or a couple year old used 300.

8500 OTD is ridiculous for a 250... Fair mark up for a dealer to make money on a 250 right now should be about 7500-7700 OTD

In Cali you're paying about 9-11% in taxes and fees depending on your county.

Isn't it sooooo nice to pay for that stupid-fckn "Red-Sticker" jus' so you can be told when and where you can ride your bike on public lands...as in...No riding June 1 'til Oct. 1 in most popular locations.

Add in the $500 dealer fee that comes with it and then taxes and it's probably the same or more as he was quoted. It's absurd to me that bikes cost that much when you can get this for $2800 more, also from Japan.

motocross is expensive. try basketball. all you need is a ball and some shoes. its awesome. People complain about bike prices while driving $40,000-50,000 trucks. In five years it aint worth even half that. revalving suspension for $1000 when you dont even have a problem you just think it "could" be better....shiiiiiit. then buy linkages and triple clamps when you are +40 novice...

How about it 2X!!

I have waited for 6 months to pick up a new 2011 YZ 450 to replace my 2010. In our area, they were gone by February. My dealer tried to get one for me, but no dealer would let one go for less than 7600, because they were in such short supply. Or so he was told. Your probably being told the same thing.

Last week my dealer ordered 25 2011 YZ450's and he was pissed. Not because he got a smoking deal on them ( he will be blowing them out at less than 6K) but he was told all YEAR that there were none in the warehouse!

That many dealers still going under, or was Yamaha trying to get top dollar and it backfired on them and now that have plenty o Yamahas.

Free flooring till like July too! Free flooring means they want those units outta the warehouse1!!!! They must have too many!

Yes I am getting a new bike in a couple of weeks

MSRP is $8399, so $8100 is a good deal for sure. You're saving at least $1000 on a brand new bike that alot of people are going to want to buy. But like everyone is saying by next spring they'll be advertised for $6999 OTD or less.

I will never own another new MX bike. There are too many barely used bikes out there for dirt. I just got an 09 KX450F, 16 hrs on the hourmeter installed when new. Stock aside from hand guards and a premium gold o-ring chain. Next to new condition.$3650

damn thats so cheap. things have changed since 2005-6-7. i remember people BRAGGING about buying used 450's for like 5200, saying they got a killer deal cuz the bike had some BS suspension work. and i talking about 2-3 year old bikes.
