Bubba to Race TORC Truck This Week at Chicagoland

Edited Date/Time 3/4/2013 6:52pm
So I know I'm opening up a can of worms - but let's get the discussion started. Bubba is set to race an Oakley-Red Bull TORC Series Light Truck in the Pro Light Class this week (September 14-15) at Chicagoland Speedway. It should be on Speed TV and such (check TV schedules).

Gates open at 2:00 for practice and qualifying with racing at 7 pm each night

He's yet another dirt bike rider (you know the others haha) hitting four wheels.

What do you all think?

Side note, while we're talking about Bubba, check out his feature story in Oakley's latest One Icon Magazine (sick new mag) - Rebel Feature: http://bit.ly/pcpeG6

He's a big name like RC transitioning into another sport, even for this one event. I'm sure he will get plenty of press and TV attention to make Oakley and Red Bull look good in this new venture, which I'm sure is what is really behind this post.

just stoking some discussion - wanting to hear some opinions on Bubba four-wheeling - even if they're bad ones Smile

I'm sure it will be mostly negative since he didn't ride the nationals, but its a great chance for him. I will watch to see how he does and see what type of spin they put on the one off (maybe?) event for bubba.

Reed had alot more fans this year after switching brands and doing the outdoors Whistling Bubba in 2012?

"Bubba four-wheeling" is interesting and gets his name back out there,so nothing bad can come out of it.
But seriously,I think a lot folks predicted he would eventually take a stab at 4 wheel racing a few years back when RC did.
I just hope in the long run it doesn't interfere with his plans/ventures on owning his own SX/MX race team.
Would like to see him stick around the sport of SX/MX for many years, even if it is just being a Team owner.

James is pretty damn good on 4 wheels, remember that karting deal quite a few years back? he turned a lap time real close (if not faster) to a guy who was a full time kart racer.

Maybe someone (Izer?) can recall the details, but i do remember how impressive he was.

I like this idea a lot better than the Indycar one.

He was just off the time and drove it like he used to ride a 125. His ninja-like reflexes will serve him well on 4-wheels.

retirement plan?

I hope he wins convincingly, leaving truck racers and fans alike wondering what the hell just happened.

I hope the other drivers have strong roll cages. Someone is getting landed on.

Well at least the other racers are caged from this jackwagon............Beef wishes he could have said the same.

Sounds cool. I've often wondered since RC doesn't need any money why he didn't get in to off road trucks like MC and Ricky Johnson. Seems like it would be a lot more fun for someone with a moto background.

Atleast they have a roll cage that should hold up when he lands on someone. I'm really over Bubba, especially after his tweet about him being glad the nationals were almost over. He tweeted that Friday night before Pala. Anyone else catch it?

Caught it and understood where he was coming from.

I think he might have some changes coming and couldnt proceed with those changes until the last national was run.

Just a heads up - his suit is looking SICK! Oakley Fire Suit used by some of O's IndyCar, NASCAR (like RC in his truck), American Le Mans, etc. drivers.

And his Truck:

Well, since JBS backed out of buying out L & M, Kraniak (sp) is going to hold JBS to his contract with Yamaha unless there are some big bucks. Not sure where this puts Brooks?

Anyhow, hope he has fun
