Footage of RD & Mom Walking back

I am not a Dungey fan, but him corralling his emotions after that drama and charging from 10 seconds from being a lap down to where he finished is a legendary ride. I dont know what his average lap time was but I bet it was 5 seconds better than the next guy.

Why did Goose kill the motor when he got to him? He would killed 15 seconds trying to fire his bike up.

Incredible. What a defining moment for a young rider with so many defining moments in his career.

Goose stated that Ryan essentially rode by himself for the first 15 minutes of the race. Plenty of time for a rider to lose confidence or think "what's the point"? Yet Ryan pressed each lap, matching and even beating the fastest laps times. He rode as if his life depended on it, and with a determination and aggressiveness that any manager or manufacturer would welcome on their team.

When Ryan flashes the Target logo on his glove, you can bet those guys are proud to have him represent their company. Sure, his interviews may lack charisma, but who knows? Remember Troy Aikman? Folks thought he was a bit of a dullard during his Cowboy days. Who knew the guy would become one of the NFL's leading commentators? Troy was the perfect employee while working for Jerry Jones, and Ryan is likely the same with Suzuki.

I'm not one for dramatics, but let me tell you that gave me chills ! That was such a risk and I am sure both RD & Goose were sick in their stomachs when Goose shut off that bike so Ryan could re-start it on his own. I give RD HUGE props for pulling off that ride, In my eyes he's a true champion and deserves that championship !

Pretty cool footage, they just about got the bike restarted when Goose gave the bike to Dungey!

I am asking because I don't know, there is no rule that the rider has to start the bike under his own power ? I thought I read that yesterday, RD has to start the bike ?

No, goose stalled it. That rule only applies once they are on the track.

Goose said in the MXA article Ryan stalled it when he hopped on.

Very good point about RD pretty much riding by himself for the first half of the race. That had to be so so frustrating and discouraging! To be able to keep those thoughts aside and continue to push that hard is astounding!

Great Video!!

Where was the Tv coverage when all of this was happening? The amatuers video guys are getting better footage of what people want to see. This video and the one in Dungey's pit were awsome and should had been covered on TV!!

Unfortunately I think you'll get plenty of people who disagree with you there, and rightfully so. There are 39 other pros out there and they all have a fan base of their own. It's a tough call from a production standpoint, especially on the fly, and even more so when they were already experiences technical difficulties with the broadcast.

I can only imagine how Angry, Upset and Heart-Broken he was...his Mom is a saint and pretty damn level-headed...she was obviously tellin' him to calm-down.

Damn...Everything be taken from him by, yet, another Mechanical Failure.

Anahiem, Daytona, Texas...now this.

Simply NOT ACCEPTABLE.

I can, sorta, understand his "move" based on this year's disappointments with Suzuki...and...it was Roger, after-all, that picked Ryan out of the corwd...and when he was a "B" rider, at that. Hell, it was Roger that intervened in the "After-Math" at Southwick.

I dunno, it's a good thing that KTM has "homologated" the '12 XC....'cause you jus' know he ain't ridin' an SX.

I'm jus' sayin'...

It's all about the "new" motor.

What? U don't lie the New Katooom '12 motor? (Tat the SX DIDN'T get!)

Here's the thing: The new XC (EXC for you?) is THE bike for the average guy to buy...there's a 2013 SX hiding inside!

When someone says "Awesome ride" two thoughts will immediately jump to the front of my mind.

RC lapping the entire field and Dungey getting 7th after this. If (and that's a big if) he wins the championship, we will talk about this performance for ages. This was such an awesome ride. That's how Dungey's year has been though... Whenever he's the best guy that day he'll have a mechanical and when he's not the best guy he'll get 2nd.

They were busy covering the warm up lap...j/k weege.

Looks like you can see when Dungey starts to take his helmet off that his mom tells him to keep it on.

Agree with O'Scottie that one ride does not make a legend but adds to the legacy.

Looks like it was someone who was there at the track.

MX Professor is The Professor Gary Bailey (David Bailey's dad) and my husband. He shot this video. He was on the track in the first turn filming the start and I was standing down by the fence to the left of the start. You can see the top of my Racer X umbrella as RD takes off. The start was over and Barcia and the leaders had not yet made it back around so GB was waiting for them to come around and saw RD and starting shooting. I (and everyone else standing along the fence) got sprayed by mud when RD took off and we all cheered. At the end of the day GB and I were in the media tent and got to talk to RD's mom. RD actually started to take his helmet off (and probably pitch it) he was so frustrated, but his mom told him don't you dare which is a good thing because he would not have been ready to go when the bike got there if he had. The ride was epic. It was amazing to watch RD pick off the positions each lap as he worked his way up. Behind many of the great champions are great MX moms who have been there through it all. RD is a class act and so is his mom. Thanks GB for capturing this great moment for us all.

He shot out of there like a bat out of hell. Wow that was cool, and I'm glad someone got it on camera.

Right when goose took off from the pits, I said "hopefully he doesn't dump it in the slop trying to get it down there." Goose was cruising too it looked like. Can't believe he killed it in the hand off tho haha. I think Dungey would have turned serial murderer if Goose got it there, stalled it, then couldn't get it restarted..
