All that black plastic, I just figured he'd joined the Mullisha and was working on some new mid moto freestyle moves.

Ah the that the good ol' "flying Y".

Is 'Crash & Burn' magazine still paying big bucks for these types of photos?

That's always been my problem, I don't hit eject soon enough and my body gets hurt while the bike comes out unscathed.

Not sure what bike he is going to be on next year but if he gets started testing early and works on staying smooth for 15 laps I think he would be a real threat for a title indoors. He was just a tick off last year and I think he can make that up easily.

Ouch.. glad he was ok after that one.

My nephew walked up to his semi at Loretta's to see if he could get Mookie's autograph, talked to one of the guys at his rig and was told he wouldn't be back for a few hours. The guy was cool as could be, give him some stickers and told him to come back later. Nephew said "I will, hes one of my favorites to watch. Does he have a poster I could have him sign?"... the guy walked upfront in the semi and came out with a pair of Oakley's Malcolm wore at Washougal and said "I bet he wouldn't mind signing these for you". Great group of guys over there, I couldn't have wiped the smile off his face if I had tried. Made a fan out of me towards that team.

Yeah Steve nice catch, right place at the right time. Unfortunate for Malcolm though.

Nasty crash too! Was that first moto or 2nd?
8/15/2011 2:02pm
Was the crash due to being blinded by the reflection off of that VitalMX truck parked on the hillside?

That thing got more coverage on 3 networks than Erin Bates....!!!

I bet if he would have had a finger on the clutch all would have been well!

I saw that wreck in person..and if he had let go of the bars, he woulda been in a lot more trouble i think. That accident was fast, so fast that looking at it from the outside you couldnt figure out what the hell had happened. Next thing ya know, his legs are straight up in the air, and im pretty sure if he had let go..he might as well had a pair of wings to fly with.

Reminds me of this one, as long as he held on.

That is sick!

More teams should respond to their fans just like this. I know that TLD goes out of their way for fans too. Thumbs up to whomever the guy at the rig was!

I wish I had got his last name when I thanked him from the edge of the tent, but I had a 6 year old jumping up and down like christmas morning that was taking my attention. Agreed, many teams could learn something from that occurance. I know it made a lasting impression on one little guy

It always amazes me at how long pros will keep holding onto the bars during a crash! human instinct is to bail at first sign of trouble but these guys have learned to overcome that. on the other hand though, I guess I have seen some pretty sketchy situations where pros have rode something out that would make any less of a rider eat sh$t

I can't be the only one who "rides it out". I seem to get hurt worse trying to get away from the bike than holding on and being slung off (and away from the bike). The last time I "got away" from a crash I had to go find my bike in the woods.
