can we get some wallpapers from each photographer in this thread?? make it a little more interesting ?
A lot of these folks, if not most, don't do wallpapers as a matter of course.

Sarah Gutierrez is who I was trying to think of earlier. She's shot some terrific stuff at the gps the last few years.

I notice some photos these days are tilted to make berms look steeper and whips look flatter.

Not saying the pic above did that, just an observation.

Not sure it matters; is the horizon level enough for you on this one?

The beauty of sand tracks. Plymouth would look like that for about five minutes on race day

Yea, now that's a great whip with a background for reference.

Plus, it's Bubba on a 2-stroke!

Is that shot pixelated for anyone else? Just curious, cause it went up fine when I posted it but now show pixelated on my monitor.

Here is an example of the tilted shot, but this one it adds nothing to the pic.

Clement Desalle "Da Panda!" really bummed me out when he got injured

2.) Jack Burnicle (also Cycle News and MXA)

3.) Fran Kuhn (Inside Motocross)

4.) Jim Gianatsis (The Greek, watch out for J.T. Racing)

5.) Paul Buckley

6.) Dick Miller

I'll add the modern shooters later

Probably the message board resizing feature. Happens to me on some photos.

This is one of my favorite motocross pics of all time. I scanned it form Motocross Techniques Training and Tactics by Brad Lackey and Len Weed. Not sure who snapped it.
Pretty certain that was shot by TMX News photographer Dave Dewhurst. It's from the 1978 Scottish 250cc GP up at Kilmartin in Argylshire, totally stunning track & location.

I rode MX as a kid but had a 7+ year hiatus in the BMX bubble, I always thought the creativity and quality of BMX photos smashed the majority of MX coverage. Almost seems like MX fans had lower expectations of photography, take a flick through Dig Magazine or a skate mag and you'll see what I mean. I think MX is looking more stylish in recent years, but there seems to be a lot of plain, 'OK' photography out there. A lot of guys with all the kit, contacts and tickets to the races taking 'OK' photos of awesome motocross. My favourite MX photographer is Paul Bliss, think he brought a lot more creativity and style to MX reportage. Some of his photos in the old Moto Magazine were just awesome. Seemed to make MX feel a bit more intimate.

Couldn't find many online to embed, but here are a couple:

Burnside,

Cudby and GuyB come from the BMX world. Others do too I would think as the Shooters focus on action sports typically. Hoppen does jet ski images too as an exampl.

I am all for creativity and more importantly an image that tells a story. When I was shooting part-time a few years ago my best images, in my opinion, came away from the track where the personalities and storyline come together. As a rule of thumb I did not shoot whips and tried to not shoot where there where a gaggle of lens present. But the reality is that whip images sell a lot of magazines as that's what the younger demographics of our sport want.

My other rule of thumb was to never shoot a downed rider...

Maybe it's time to try Inside Motocross once more! Smile

No list can be complete without a special spot for TFS -- He, whether you like him or not (and i do love TFS), ushered digital photography into the sport and probably has more Cycle News covers than any other moto paparazzi. I miss TFS at the races; he was fun to hang out with . . .

Shoot. I forgot about TFS, and although I don't agree about strobe lighting or seat bounce Tongue , I'll have to give him credit for the drive to what the coverage is like today.
In my post I left out a few and was reminded about some others.

Paul Clipper of Dirt Bike Magazine fame
Gianni Prandi
David Dewhurst
the late Pat Bouland
Charley Morey
Luc Verbeke
Frank Hoppen
Karel Kramer
Simon Cudby

The late great Pat Boulland, the original MX Pope of photographers, sadly missed!
