Had some interesting interactions with various Russians and the government(s) in a case involving diamonds back in the midst of the Yeltsin era. We ended up not taking it, but it made for an interesting couple weeks.
I bet you were scared shitless, I know I would be. That is a crazy country and even more so in the 90th.

I heard the same thing, nothing confirmed.
They took him straight to the hospital.

Hope it's not as bad as rumoured.

Hope Ramon is ok.

First time I've seen a race at Lommel was this morning. Cool track, looking forward to tomorrow's motos.

That is great news.

Any time you see a rider down like that, to the point where they actually have to red flag the race.... never good. But I'm glad to hear it's not what we all feared.

Herlings is a sand master. It's going to be a job of work for Roczen to win tomorrow but sand bites hard at speed. Going to be a great day of racing on Sunday. Lommel and Leirop are my favorite races of the year. Good to see Leirop back on the calender for 2012.

Yeah, I don't recall the track being that bad, but in a country where you wouldn't think land use restrictions would be a big deal, maybe they couldn't have laid out a pretty cool undeveloped track. Be interesting to see that race; think we mainly got stills here.
Track was actually excellent, sand/clay mixture. Our announcer in Sweden said the riders liked the track but that there was some serious issues with some teams having problem with corrupted customs etc, the Swedish team could even make it to the track because of this (don't remember the details). I remember parts the race as it was yesterday, didn't see it in person but my VCR has played it 10 times. Anyway Coppins was almost winning before Pichon cough up to him and "accidently" clipped Joshua's front wheel with him falling and also lead to a bent rotor and DNF (?). I see in my mind how Coppins trying to work up speed again on that uphill but notice its not possible because of the front wheel is locking up

Also I think that was the year when Coppins was busted for doping, with the "hayfever medicine" and lost his ride with Honda, and as a consequence used a totally stock "looking" CR250 at that race, meaning OEM radiators. I mean how many times have we seen a pro ride with stock graphics?

Good race!

That diamond story sounds pretty interesting! Smile

Only caught the last 2 laps but that was enough! Awesome stuff.

Freaking awesome, both guys went back and forth so many times!

Lapped riders look particularly bad - they won over 3rd by something like 43 seconds.

Sneaky the way they were playing cat and mouse, Roczens sand riding has really improved!

Race was EPIC! It was all head games between the two of them and Herlings won in the end.

The director had me shouting at the screen tho as he cut away from the battle many times for no reason

I love how Herlings goes down, gets back up, and passes everyone (including Roczen) like they are standing still. Crazy
