I bought I Leatt last week and rode with it under my No Fear stratos protector this weekend - Fit fine and was comfortable but the shoulder cups grab the brace if I lift my arms up and pulling the brace out of position but it can't slide but so far as the helmet stops it.

Anyone else using a similar set up or does the shoulder cups need to be trimmed so it does not interfere at all?

A buddy of mine took the shoulder cups off his No Fear chest protector and mounted the front and back to the Leatt. He seams to like the set up.

I had to cut my fox down because of the same problem...just cut out small sections
at a time...I killed the first one i did by cutting too much. fit much better after that.

I wear mine ON TOP of my Thor Protector as shown in this pic. The back is on the INSIDE and the FRONT is on the outside. I have not had to trim a thing or adjust the Leatt, I like the way it fits as is.

I have had a few riders tell me to tuck in the front. I say why, it works for me the less head movement on a crash the better imo.

Of course I have been wearing an EVS doughnut for yrs, so the LEATT was no problem at all. In fact I did a headplant Sat night, other than dazed, I came out fine....

A buddy of mine done the same thing, problem is most of the time in a crash your shoulders usually hit the ground.

I like the idea of having something between my shoulders and the ground.

I had the exact same problem no matter how much I trimmed off the shoulder cups. I ended up replacing the cups with leather straps and have lived happily ever since. Been running it this way for about 16 months.

Does it really matter if it pulls it up? At impact the helmet will push the brace back down?

The No Fear is very comfy as is with the brace.

The problem was when the brace was pushed off my shoulders by the shoulder cups, the brace would then bump my helmet and move it around. I hated that so I removed the shoulder cups. Problem solved.

I run mine with an EVS chest protector but the shoulder cups are 2 pieces and taking off the outside piece solved the problem. It's about time for a new chest protector and I'm looking at the THOR Sentinel or maybe an RXR (even though I don't want to look like the Michelin Man) since they seem to fit well with the Leatt.

The new RXR stuff fits perfect with the Leatt. The thor sentinels fit good too but of course nowhere near the level of protection of the RXR.

This is the one I have and it works perfectly with the Leatt, no trimming required. It was a matter of pure luck as my Fox one cracked from Rock Roost (where’s Nerd anyway) and this was on the shelf at the local KTM dealer of all places.

No need to remove shoulder cups either. I’ve always been a firm believer of “YOU CAN’T GET ENOUGH PROTECTION”!

I need to agree with you there. The RXR and Leatt go together like peanut-butter and jelly.

I won't ride without the RXR just like I won't ride without a helmet or the Leatt. If you've ever crashed wearing an RXR you know what I'm talking about.

What are then light-colored thingies in the dirt??
Anyway, I run the old Thor Aftershock, which I believe was superceeded by the Quadrant.
Looking at GMan's photo, I trimmed 1" off the ends of the shoulder pads(cut off the little "vents"on the ends) and remounted the humerous guards. Just the ticket for the Leatt. Been wearing mine over a year! Look at my profile photo.
....tested it too, but that's another thread.

We've got the EVS protector. Just a quick trim on the padding front and back provided a nice fit. Nothing on the shoulder cups, we left them alone.

I've never experienced that, or heard of that for that matter. Mine have always stayed good and secure while riding and crashing.

Those light colored thingies are the the death missiles my 450 uses to shoot riders behind me.

haha

That track is about a mile from Unadilla (surprise!) called Thunder Ridge. They like the rocks in their dirt and to over-water strange sections of the track...such as blind jump landings. It's fun. Bring a chest protector...

My son has same set up. He tucks the shoulder padding portion of his chest protector in between the neck protection portion and base of the leatt. Basically tucks in perfectly below buckle of leatt. Takes away the floating feeling according to him.

That's exactly it! I forgot to mention that. Very good description.

It makes a "sandwich wedge" that holds the back part in place while putting it over my head. Then just sandwich the front section into the protector foam edge, in the front yoke and snap into place...right?

Your kids have there setups all wrong. If you stick the shoulder cup into that little little spot that looks like the perfect place to stick your shoulder cup, you create a fixed cantilever off the brace that will cause more harm than good if your kid body slams the ground on his side. Consider yourselves warned.

Unless of course that shoulder cup is foam like the RXR.

We use the Leatt with the 661 Defender, trimmed out the shoulder cups just a bit and it sits freely on his shoulders.
Rear support for the brace is down inside the back of the protector keeping it secure, sides are not tight enough to create a fulcrum point.
