Anybody know where there are any Noguchi complete bikes? A few were in this country and tested my Cycle World and Cycle News in the early seventies.

I only ever seen one of those. Was a 100 that a guy from up Illinois way had - they moved to Cali for him to progress with his racing and that is about all I can remember.

Except that it would blow off a standard 125 <img class= " title="Laughing">

The ones I am looking for are 72,73 and 74 125's and a 250 mono that was ridden by Tony Wynn. I have a 74 125 now. Thanks for your help guys.

tony wynn wouldn't make a zit on neil nacdannalds asshole...no shit. dude had the sweet norcal noguchi yammies...the best
3/19/2006 6:49am
well wynn was fast and deserves (i'm sure but never knew him)accolades but macdannald was the only guy i saw make magoo look slow...norcal ruler until a desert crash almost killed him.

dude never raced 125 (way too big and tall)but brought a white yammie nogughi i assume to plymouth and passed magoo then gapped him bad that day..magoo was pretty much in his prime when it came to speed back then.

Dennis Hall, Jimmy Merck and Richard Burdett raced those here in Georgia. Burdetts 250 was the first Mono I ever saw. Merck was the smoothest rider ever. Those bikes were beautiful and damn fast.

A guy used to show up at the local races with a Noguchi kitted YZ-80 in the mid 70s. That dude and his bike were badass.

I think Woody Kyle (WKR) was an employee of noguchi in the early 70's. Were'nt the US operations based in Georgia at one time?

I bought a Noguchi from Gene McKay. It was one of the coolest bikes I have ever owned. It had a chrome bore cylinder when everthing else was cast iron. I had a 125cc and a 175cc cylinder. Gene had a Japanese mechanic named Hochi (sp) that ported the cylinders. Around here the pro classes were 0-200cc, so I ran the 175cc and pulled many holeshots. It was white with a red stripe on the tank.

Two very fast racers out off a Yamaha shop near Atlanta would go to track like Dog River, Burnt Hickory.ect... but this was in 1976,1977 era. They both raced numerous classes in the same day. Their names were Liles and the other was Bishop. Did they have some type of special support from Japan?

I believe Dirty Distubuting was the Noguchi liason in the southeast. They were based in Georgia (Atlanta?) at one time.

Here is one of the first moto pics I ever took.
This was in 1973 at Whitesburg MX ( Georgia's version of Chicken Licks Raceway).
Thats Jimmy Merk killing the 100 class on a Noguchi. I have several other pics of him at different tracks and in everyone he looks that smooth.

Hi Guys,

I think it's really cool there are so many Noguchi enthusiast out there! I know how to reach Jimmy and Dennis. Jimmy is doing great I talk to him pretty often. How ever I'm sorry to tell you guys but Dennis passed away in 2005. He is my dad. I miss him quite a bit so seeing your posts are nice. But anyway if anyone has any pis off either Jimmy or Dad I would love to see them.

As a child I lived in Marietta, Ga. The first time I meet Dennis Hall was at a neighbors house. I was about 10 years old. This was so cool for me. Dennis was one of the racers everyone wanted be like. I remember Dennis helping Mr.Duke design some of the old Whiteburge tracks too. Man those tracks were super fast. Sorry I have no photos, just great memories.

I can't ever remember seeing a complete bike out here, just some parts, maybe an engine kit or pipe.

Nicholas, I sent you a pm yesterday. I've got a few photos of your dad from the 70s at races in the Atlanta area. We were friends in the mid to late70s and traveled to a few races together back in the day. And yes, your dad was fast,.....real fast!

OK Nicholas, I got a little luckier tonight posting this. Here's your dad in 1975 at Burnt Hickory in Dallas, Georgia.

Enjoy!

And here's my favorite. The bottom of the downhill where the branch ran. Always a little sloppy there!

As Brad I race with your dad, he was a little older than me so it was at the end of his racing days. I watch him race a lot over the years before we rode together. I was on the rode for work when Al called me, so sorry. I will try to find some pictures, joe

Hey Guys,

Anyone know where I could track down some old noguchi parts like the water-cooled shenobi heads and what not?

For what bike? I have an unidentified Shinobi head laying around, may be a 4 bolt Yamaha pattern. Might have a radiator also.
