Which MX helmet has the best venting? Could more be done to increase air flow without compromising safety? Internal cooling packs?

Bell helmets I find to be very good at ventilation, both off road (moto 5) and road (Star)

Shave your head. There is no reason to have long hair stuffed inside your helmet. If they have vents, the air won't go through your smushed hair. Just a tip.

no helmets currently on the market are vented enough IMO. I know they could do better than what's out there now.

It this time, I do not think there is a better vented helmet designed for motocross than the Airoh Aviator, designed and produced in Italy. This helmet currently dominates in the World Motocross GP. It has all the highest European safety certifications, is one of the lightest helmets (~950 grams), and has substantial and innovative venting. It the only helmet I have ever worn where you can look up through the neck opening and see out the top, and actually feel your hair move due to air flow when riding.

I remember the first time I held an Airoh helmet was during tech while installing ejects. I could not believe how light it was. I swore it was a mountain bike helmet. it wasn't until I went to MXD in Italy that I was able to get my hands on one. Because they don't meet the "American" standards they are having a hard time distributing them in the states. I have talked at length with the owner of Airoh and they designs helmets based on the environment. Moto helmets are designed for moto street are designed for street. Here in the states all helmets have to pass the same test.
I recently got my two year old the child sized helmet. Not an adult helmet with extra padding but a smaller sized helmet. It weighs in at 900 grams.

It would be interesting to put various helmets in a wind tunnel to monitor air flow. Most helmet companies talk a good game, but there vents are just worm holes. I would like to see some stats on how much air passes through at a given speed.

With 7 entry vents in the front, an increased eye port, 4 heat extractors in the rear, the AGV AX-8 is definitely one of the 2 or 3 best vented helmets.

Airoh is definitely impressively light, lighter than ours which are at 2.2 lbs, scarily light; built to pass the ECE tests, that's for sure. Smile
In Europe all helmets, street or dirt, have to pass the same ECE test too, like in the US with DOT.
