A little background on my issues. I’ve been a 2-stroke guy forever but have recently been racing a RMZ-450. I’ve had a few stalls and one cost me a race win so it’s really in my head to cover the clutch and not ruin my race kicking the shit out of a hot 450. I have played with turning up the idle.
My bike has a full Hinson now so I’d rather not replace it all with the full Rekluse auto clutch kit. It looks like they offer just the inner kit but I’m not sure if it’s compatible with the Hinson basket and cover. I’ll talk with them during business hours but I would like any real world experience.
I had the EXP insert only on my 2014 RM-Z450, it made the bike so much easier to ride. No stall outs, and I felt I could roll a higher gear in corners easier. Seems to also calm the bike down overall.
Highly recommend the insert only set up (if they still offer this), no experience with any of the other platforms they offer. I used mine with a ProX forged basket, and Boyesen cast cover, and no fitment issues. I imagine if the Hinson basket is same as stock dimensions, everything should also fit the same. The EXP I used simply replaced a few stock plates.
I know when I installed a Rekluse in my 2000 Honda CR250, I had to add a gasket to the cover to clear the clutch. I'm on my 4th bike with a Rekluse and the CR is the only bike I had an issue with. I "should" fit fine.
2015 rmz450 I had the full recluse. It would still flame out and it was the mapping in hindsight. And there were no maping support anywhere.
Tried different engagement springs and idle and it was a run around.
Ended up changing it to rekluse manual hub and running a magura.
Then went and bought a 2017 fc450 with bullet proof clutch and electric start and never looked back.
Best thing ever!

Riding will never be the same - in all the best ways possible.
I have the Rekluse Core EXP 4.0 in most bikes and ride them as if they aren't there / just as I would a normal cutch. My clutch skills are still good (as evidenced by the bikes I ride without Rekluses) and the anti-stall is priceless - especially on Kickstart bikes.
At this point I also consider them a safety item - especially with regard to not stalling in the air.
Call Rekluse (ask for Charles) and he'll spec exactly what you need.
Awesome, thanks for all the info. I did try to call Rekluse early last week and just sat on hold. I’ll try again today.
