I guess we're seeing the end-life of the early 80s Japanese OEM plastic MX tanks. My son's 82 CR125 developed some cracks in the tank. I bought a couple of replacements on ebay and FB that looked good, but when fuel was put in them, they both leaked through tiny cracks on the seams or next to the shroud inserts.
Anyone have a good source for quality used OEM Honda plastic tanks or tips on how to repair small cracks in these tanks? I don't need concours quality, but do need a tank that can used on a vintage race bike and does not leak fuel.
Rest of the bike is in superb condition, but at the moment, this is its Achille's heal.
Thanks for any help.
There's a few companies that make specific fuel tank sealers for plastic tanks. Here's one:

I think an outfit called Caswell makes a plastic lank liner kit. I've not used it, but it might worth checking out.

Thanks for the tips. I'm familiar with the Caswell product, which looks like a good fix. The product literature says it won't work on polyethylene, and I've been told these older Japanese MX tanks were made with polyethylene.

Thanks for all the suggestions. But I'm still on my quest for a 82 CR125 fuel tank that is serviceable for racing. Anyone know by chance if the 81 tank will fit on the 82? They look similar but have different part numbers (last set of numbers for 81 are 000, while 82 is 300, indicating some kind of change. I know the mounting brackets changed to aluminum in 82 from the steel units on the 81. This is for my son's bike, and I'd really like to get it back in service for autumn VMX racing.
