Going to Italy

Heading to Italy for a wedding in two weeks. Any suggestions for things to do? Any moto going on? Anywhere to rent DS bikes? Maybe mountain bike? Landing in Venice going to Dolomite’s. Not a fan of big cities or summer, so.. all ears

There’s a tower that needs some foundation work.

The engineering that has recently been done for Venice to remain the way it is ,is quite amazing to see.

I can attest to Venice being a remarkable place.

Recently spent a few days there.

It’s likely going to be super hot right now so plan accordingly. We did the amalfi coast last summer and it was incredible. Enjoy your time there!

If you're there late in August , the World MTB Championships are on from the 26th, at Val di Sole, Trentino.

Dolomites is pretty large area.  What town are you going to?

There are plenty of beautiful, peaceful places you can visit.  Especially if you like water, rivers lakes that has nothing to do with big cities.  I might be able to give some tips if I knew what area.

As far as Venice, take it in a bit, it really is a place to see.  My sister and I used to ride the train into Venice and party it up a bit.  Nearly every Saturday we'd walk to the station around 10 AM and Get back at 1:30 PM We had some great adventures.  But my best advice for a nice fun day, away from the tourist (for the most part) and cruise ships is to take a ferry over to Lido Island and enjoy a lunch and afternoon.  Its about a half hour ferry ride and you get to see much of Venice from the boat, which is fun.

While in Venice, guard your wallet like its your cock, because someone's going to grab it.  You'll learn quickly that Italians, Venician, Italians like to stand way way to close to you.

I was drinking a little one night and was on a ferry.  It was really crowded, elbow to elbow, people just crowded against ya.  We made a couple of stops, some got on, some got off.  I was just chillin, going along for the ride, not paying attention, just standing by the handrail enjoying the view.  A handful of stops and my sister sat down in on a seat.  I was fine, just standing.  I honestly thought the boat was still crowded.  My sister was laughing her ass off and I was like wtf, what are you laughing at.  Then I realized the boat had emptied except for about 8 people and here I was standing on the handrail, all by myself, with this Italian dude standing back to back butt to butt against me pushing me on the rail.  It was only us.  After I noticed, it was hilarious.   I was having fun, I'd push off the rail moving him back about 3 feet, then stand up and forward really fast.  Here he'd come back, over and over.  About 8 times before I had to sit down from laughing so hard.   Its a different place, I'm telling ya.

Another time, I was in Venice on business and was looking for something to do.  The casino was just a 5 minute walk from my hotel so I thought I would check it out.  It opened at 8, I got there about 10 minutes early.  I was the first person in line.  When it opened, I was about the 15th person through the door.  Just know the crowds there are crazy.

Had family there and been all over that area.  I agree, don't like cities, love the mountains.  There is plenty to do and so many awesome places to see in the Dolomites.   Brush up on your German.
