Well, that she doesn't have cancer is great news!

Some kind of paulsey? I have no idea, but I'm glad she's gonna be around a while longer.

Latest update, we took her for tests this week for a bacterial infection and Lyme disease test. Both came back negative yesterday so we still have no idea why she is limping. The good news is we had the doc give her a cortisone shot and she is doing worlds better. She is still limping but yesterday she was even putting weight on her paw while standing. She has a lot more pep in her step and we are actually holding her back because she's a little to playful, she wants to jump down from the couch etc.

It's a very good turn from last week, we actually cancelled our appointment to put her down. She's not going to get better and is a short timer but she hasn't told us she's ready yest.

That's great news that she's got some more time. We had the vet come out for our Great Dane. Easiest money to justify after it's all said and done. Go peaceful in their own home with some new "friends" in the house with them. They don't even know what's going on. I got a 14 year old aussie that has some issues with her left hind leg. We got her on some rimadyl (basically doggy aspirin) and she bounced back to life quite well. Basically same issue your dog was having. Nothing really wrong but just a lame leg. Doc said it could just be nerve damage from old age.

This post made my day! With all the bad shit going on in the world today, we needed some good news!

That’s great news for you and your pup! My best dog outta my three is a 14 year old beagle that started struggling with stairs and jumping on the couch/truck about a year ago. Vet said it was bad back and she’d never be the same, I’ve tried a lot of different joint tablets on 1-month trials. These took the cake, she’s been on them since May, back to running up and down the stairs and jumping into my truck. Best of luck buddy, I hope she continues to surprise ya with a comeback.

Sorry for your situation, had to put my best bud down 4 years ago and still think of him nearly every day. Doesn’t help that the dog my wife got even after I said I don’t want another one is a royal PITA. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

Unfortunately, she's taken a bit of a downturn the past day. Last night she basically slept where she came in from the house. Luckily she seems to be walking a bit better this morning. The change was incredible from being ready to put her down to a dog with a bit of a limp but tons of energy and spunk. Now I'm just hoping she can hold off for another 8 days until she gets her next shot. The vet will only give her a shot once a month, I'm tempted to look through my medicine cabinet for something steroidal. lol

Funny thing about the cortisone shot, she has been an eating machine since she got it and I always notice how ravenous I am when the doc puts me on any kind of steroids.

Well, time for the bad kind of update. She was on monthly cortisone and pain injections and physical therapy. She had way more good days than bad but over the weekend I could tell she has had enough, and we made the hard decision of taking her to the vet for the last time tomorrow morning. I come home from work and she doesn't even get up now. She will wait until I lay down with her then she stands with some effort and finally wags her tail. That damn dog has spirit like none I've ever seen. I'm confident we did everything possible to keep her healthy and extend her life. Like my wife said, it's not too early and it's not too late.

This weekend is going to suck.

Indulge me. First pic was when she tried to make friends with a scorpion, last picture is my absolute favorite of her.

Beautiful pup.

Sorry y'all are going through this, but you gotta do it for her.

Sincere condolences.

Oh man, I can tell just from the pics she's a great dog. I'm sorry.

I always quote Roy Rodgers: "If dogs don't go to heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went."

Lord help me, I'm practically crying over a dog I've never met.

There's not many people that I'd be more sad losing than losing my dog. I'm gutted for you brother!

The thing I try and (unsuccessfully) tell myself, the reason I'm so sad is because how much love was in my life because of them.

I'm sorry for your loss. You gave her the best life.  I feel your pain and its the very worst. Just doesn't feel normal around here anymore without my boy. Hate this.

Will, sorry. I get my old-school celebs confused with old-old school ones.

The best and worst part of this situation is that I completely get it.

As others have said, we’re so fortunate to have these wonderful creatures in our lives…and it’s so painful when they leave.

Thanks for being such a great friend to such a beautiful dog.
