Was there anybody more fearless than Danny Magoo Chandler?
I do not believe there was, or is. I never missed a USGP at Carlsbad and there are some that really standout above the others. And this was one of them.
After racing quite a few laps on this track throughout the years and then watching the World's best riders go at it for 45 minutes in the heat on that brutal track was truly amazing!
Made you realize how slow you're really going and would never be able to go that fast in your lifetime. 😲

Magoo was before my time, are there any videos I can watch? All I know he's a legend that I think got paralyzed.

Guy Cooper reminded me of Danny because he was also fearless!
He did get paralyzed. He was going over the finish line jump at the Paris-Berry sx and whipped the bike for the crowd. A flash from a photographer temporarily blinded him and he lost control on the landing, went over the bars and was paralyzed. Very sad.
Danny was the definition of WFO. Watch him go at it on the super bikes:

The quality is amazingly good for being from beginning of the 80s. AI enchanced I suppose, but still, totally watchable.
I'm many times surprised on the sh*tty quality from the 90s, much worse than this or beginning of '00.
I usually don't watch "old sh*t' due to quality, but this was very watchable! Thank you!
My favorite MX photo of all time is of Chandler holeshotting the 1982 Trophee Des Nations. MXA recalled it at some point later and they were still in awe of his fearlessness. They printed something like, "Magoo had left the throttle wide open when the world's best riders had shut off..."
RIP, Danny.
