Dylan tells that the bonus with the Phoenix deal remained an issue until very lately.
Kenny is just using his position in the team to keep himself as the team leader…nothing wrong with that, and everything works together for good…DF is on a damn-near-factory Honda like he’d always wanted!

Yes, that was the point I was making. He says he wanted on the Honda, but he could have signed earlier. HEP was going to be able to pay him more, so he wanted to go there instead, but Phoenix came through by securing HRC funding. It just contradicts what he said about wanting on Honda so bad, he would have turned it down had they not been able to pay him what he wanted.

No, during Outdoors 2021 his bike was regulary erratic. Some others were better.
Then what's matter it's SX, and his bike was dreadful for SX2021 (as 2022).

As the bonus question weren't solve, there wasn't a Phoenix deal to sign. Also, with this Phoenix contract, for a rider who accomplished as much, I assume that his basic income will be very low.

No, outdoors his bike was the bike to be on. AP also looked better on that Yamaha outdoors then he ever has looked on his KTM. Indoors he never looked perfect, but his starts are the much bigger problem not the bike.
So stoked for Dylan!! Can’t wait for Outdoors in ‘24! Jett won’t be going 24-0.
But there was. Him going to Honda was talked about right around the same time as HEP, when he rode the bike at the dog pound. I think that was even before HEP. Long story short, how it sounds to me, if HEP deal pays more and Kenny doesn’t veto it, he would have chosen that deal over Phoenix. So him saying he sought out the Honda and felt like he needed to be on it holds little weight to me.

Great interview!! There’s a cultural difference between here ( US) and elsewhere. I’m a Brit but have been here 25 years so really notice it . Here people can’t really be honest, they always have to say positive things as anything not “ it’s awesome “ is construed as a slight so you don’t really have riders speaking their truths. It’s a shame tbh, I’d love to hear a lot more of these types of interviews but I won’t hold my breath.
I’d love to know more about the roczen thing . He concerned the dilution of focus would hurt him, feels that Dylan would become “ the guy” , hates the French 🤣 ?
Hoping Dylan can regain the form & speed he’s previously displayed.
Also, it's worth noting how good Craig looked on that bike outdoors for 2 seasons.

Craig looked exactly the same outdoors on the Honda though. 4-9 guy with an occasionally podium chance.
What I think is really comical (people here mentioned it already) is the pattern over the last years. As soon as a rider becomes the #2 rider on a team, he suddenly struggles with the bike and becomes unhappy.
We saw it with Ferrandis and Tomac, with Kenny and Sexton and with Sexton and Jett. I don't think it's just coincidence.
Ok but that has nothing to do with my point. I was just making a point that withing the last 2 years of that 450 platform at Star (21-22), everyone that raced it looked as good as they've been in their career.
I’m digging this whole change-up mindset that he’s going thru. Seeing him willing to make the necessary changes and compromises to stay in the game is going to make next season all the more “interesting”.
Stoked on the New Phoenix FC Honda 450 Team.
Also, Team Honda/HRC USA was already over extended for 2023 and 2024. I’m pretty damn proud of how they’ve gone the extra mile on this program and backed Dylan’s bonus program themselves.
