Really looking forward to this event with probably one of most stacked fields ever but my main concern is the weather. I’ll be travelling pretty far, all the way from Kent but what’s putting me off is the weather. We’ve had a ton of rain of late & it doesn’t look like it’s gonna stop anytime soon.
What’s it like up there, how’s the track prep going?
It’s wet with a forecast of more wet.
Yeah that’s what I thought 👎🏻
Keep positive thoughts on the weather.
It only needs to stop raining a few days before for it to be decent, but may still run even with this continuous rain. I've been there on sloppy days before, it's still impressive to see how quick the boys go in horrendous conditions. It's obviously not so fun to stand out in, good wet weather gear is a must.
We've been lucky with nice conditions the last few years so we were bound to get a wet one eventually

There are a lot of wet things I appreciate in my life, a mudder ain't one of them.
In typical fashion, this sunday is meant to be dry there... lol Fuck it. I don't care. Hawkstone means motocross is back. Bring it on.
The forecast has actually improved for next week. Friday and Saturday look dry and decent. Potential rain on race day and definitely going to be cold, but at least it's improved a bit.
As long as it's not raining on race day (anyone remember the 2020 edition?) then it'll be good...
Was up near there yesterday, its wet as a wet thing , but forecast is better for the rest of the week, so hopefully will be OK, as long as the lane on the way in isnt badly flooded it should be ok .
It pissed down yesterday at Telford Classic Show, its always a shame when they arent on the same weekend, Saturday looking at old bikes and buying stuff you dont need, Sunday watching the racing 15 miles away. Handily my daughter lives there, so we get to go visit her too.
What I'm reading is dry Saturday and Monday, light showers sunday. A few years back it was during that storm, I remember trees on the road when driving there.. I'm sure this weekend won't be as bad as that one lol
According to the weather forecast I’m seeing, it’s gonna pissed down until Friday, sunny but cold on Saturday then sleet on Sunday. Might have to sit this one out.
Weather forecasts are a guess at best, i will be getting an update later today hopefully on what its like there, but i have had no chatter to say that there is any issue, hill will be called on the day i guess, but thats normal .
Its as much about getting to see people as it is about the racing for me, so we will be there whatever, wrapped up for the cold, and wet if it comes.
Is does have a bit of a microclimate there too, so the forecast can be way off.
Its 70 miles for us, not like we are driving 3hrs like some will.
That’s the thing, I will be driving 3 hours to get there. I was planning on going up on the Saturday, staying overnight at a hotel. Another issue is, my gf is having an op in the week so I don’t want her getting sick incase it cancels the operation. Gutted to be honest.
I'm not that far away from Hawkstone and the weather today is much better than the last few days, clear, no wind and actually not that cold. Weather forecasting in this country is wildly inaccurate at times, i will be going regardless!
They have just put pics of the track up on their Facebook page. Looks good considering the weather we've had. Forecast for Sunday looks pretty bleak, overcast, cold and drizzly all day.
I have just spoken Neil Irwin who will be onsite doing timing this weekend, and the people on site today are saying that it is surprisingly dry, with no puddles on the track to speak of, it was sealed at the end of last year .
So fingers crossed it isnt too bad between now and then, and it should be a good day .
A reminder again that there is no Livesteam , no matter what anyone else tells you.
Hawkstone posted photos of the track earlier, looks perfect! And looks like they've put lots of money into the track/viewing areas/bridges etc.
Pit Row
Definitely looks better than expected. Should be a great day of racing,
2 world champs lined up,
Herlings second outing on the Honda,
Interested to see what Watson can do on the triumph and what Mewse can do again some top talent at a home race
For fuck sake. Gutted.
They had a mad downpour earlier and the place is drowned out, spoke with folk earlier who said it was looking good as well.
BUGGER.
Are we cancelled?
Yeah. Apparently we don't race in rain anymore.
It's not the track, it's the parking and access I heard.
Gutted for the club, and those already travelling.
Looks like I made the right call, gutted for the club but the amount of rain we’ve been having I’m not surprised.
There's Wild Willies Extreme Enduro on at Bradford this Sunday. That won't get cancelled, every year it's a shit fest. They seem to prefer it that way.
As stated above by muscle milk that it's raining so he probably won't go. The rain stuffs pre ticket sales. The promoters look at this and think it's not worth laying out all the goods to get a dismal turnout only to run at a loss. Then there's post-race track clean ups and maintenance post mudder as well
So apparently if it rains people don't go to watch anymore either.
Yeah. I dunno what's happened to the world man. Storm Dennis happened in 2020 and we went ahead with the race.
As I said in a previous comment, my gf is having an operation so we can’t risk her getting ill which might jeopardise that going ahead. If it was dry & warm then yes we would go. I don’t want to stand for 8 hours in the freezing cold, wet through. I don’t want my car towed in & out of the venue then after that drive the 150 odd mile journey home that will be no doubt get held up by delays.
And finally, it’s my money, I can spend it however I like.
Maybe too many good riders were there to take the risk of a low turn out.. That was my initial thought. I could be wrong. I don't know how much they pay these guys to attend. Just weird to me how we've done the race in worst conditions..
