Ride report #1, as compared to a 2019 yz450f with full suspension, Rekluse,
I'm a 40+ A/B rider, 6'2", 210 - only ride mx tracks in Texas
2024 is lighter, slimmer, faster, etc. It is a noticeable difference for sure (coming from the 19 yz450f). Front suspension is very sharp hitting, and the seat is rock hard. I switched up the front fork settings to compression 12 out and rebound 10 out. I moved the shock to 14 out low speed, 1 turn out on high speed, and rebound 11 out. It handled a lot better with just that setting change. The next ride I will set the sag to 105, make a few more changes and update. I felt like the front was much higher in the middle of the jump, so I was brake tapping quite a bit - maybe just my style. I felt the brakes were pretty weak, and I was really pulling hard to get the bike slowed up. Overall, I'm excited about getting it dialed in. I will continue to take both bikes to the track for the next 2-3 months until I get the 24 set up correctly.

Congrats on the new bike. I’m in the same boat as you. What I have concluded so far is; The new generation will never feel like the 18-22. I have a 22 and acquired a 23 from my brother. I have taken both to the track for about 2 months in an attempt to compare, contrast and set up. I thought they would feel similar, but in my experience, they are completely different bikes; in the sense that the 23 doesn’t feel like a traditional Yamaha to me. I have ridden other 23’s with Enzo, factory connection, etc… and while they are quite a bit better it still feels like the 23. It is sharp and hyper active compared to the 22. I have stock suspension with a lowering link and a stabilizer on the 23, and that is the best combo I have found to calm the 23 down. It’s a great bike, but I still really like the 22 more. It’s calm and predictable. The 23 takes alot more energy to ride. Hopefully you’re able to get a good setting, I’m sure you’ll be able to get it dialed in. Good luck.
