I have a quick question about wheel compatibility between Yamahas. As some of you might have seen in the moto section, I broke my chain guide off upon landing a big jump at Endurocross on my yz250, which subsequently led to a shattered hub, ego, and more sprocket bolt comments on my IG then I'd care to admit. Another member here gave me a great deal on a current generation yz250f swingarm and linkage, so I'm covered there, however I still need a wheel to replace my broken one that fits. As far as I know the 250f uses a slightly larger rear axel than my two stroke (mine is a 15), but I'm mainly just concerned about the hubs fitting since I can swap bearings if need be.

I basically need to know what year bikes have hubs have the same dimension as the current generation yz250f. I looked up part numbers and saw that they are different between the two and four strokes, but that could be for a number of reasons that aren't crucial to fitment. I am not against putting an 18" on the back since I do a lot of offroad, so if wheels from a WR250 or 450 would fit that would be great. I have a hard time believing there is a width difference between all of these bikes, but I could be wrong so if anyone has any knowledge in this area that would be great.

Thanks for any insight, sorry for the long post but I wanted to be thorough in explaining what I'm looking for.

I have a YZ with the 250F swingarm and some spare wheels at the house. When I get off work Ill check and see if the YZ wheels fit in the swingarm. I just bought a set of Tusk wheels for a 250f and put on mine. Wheels and hubs have held up to a full season and still going strong.

Not to change the subject, but just an FYI...when you purchase swingarm bearings and linkage bearings make sure you order for the 250f and not the YZ. I assumed everything was the same since it bolted up straight off the 250f however when I ordered a bearing kit I got the YZ and it did not fit in the bike. Now You Know

JM485,

It really is fairly simple to see what fits what. Here is the skinny...

1) Go to your local dealers website. In this case it is (my guess): http://www.mach1motorsports.com/

2) Then go to look up oem parts link http://shop.mach1motorsports.com/OEMpartfinder.htm

3) Find your part number. I am going to assume it is: 17D-25311-00-00 HUB, REAR (for a 17 250F)
Copy that part number.

4) Go back to http://shop.mach1motorsports.com/OEMpartfinder.htm and paste that part # into the lower right box where it says "part". Select Yamaha from the drop down box above. Click "search"

5) A new page opens up with the availability of that part number. Click "select model"

6) This comes up.....

I do believe this answers your question, eh?

I Have been using this search feature for years. I had just assumed others have been on the dealers website looking up OEM parts and using this feature. Guess I am wrong. This really help out when you want to buy used & it takes the guess work out on what fits what.

Carry on...

I think he needs to parts search the bearings and spacers and axle to see if they are compatible.

but I'm mainly just concerned about the hubs fitting since I can swap bearings if need be.

Wow, I can't believe I've never stumbled upon that feature before. I was going through and trying to match up part number through motosport, but this is way, way easier! Thanks a ton, really appreciate it!

I'm curious why no WR models come up in that search, I though for sure they used the same swingarm and hub but not according to this? Only reason I'm interested in the WR compatibility is because I wouldn't mind putting an 18" on the rear since I do a good amount of offroad stuff.
