2017 FC 350 Bore - To hone or not to hone

Edited Date/Time 4/16/2020 11:53am

Hi All,

See attached pics of my FC 350 insides, looks good to me, not sure I should even hone it. Piston to bore clearance is 0.08mm or 3.1thou so will go 1 up on the piston size. Any advice appreciated.

94hrs on bike.

Thanks

Run a ball hone through it. Will put your hatching back in without removing material

Exactly what I would do.

Dust it with a few strokes to add some cross hatch to the bore without removing material.

Basically give it a fresh finish for the rings and let it ride.

My 2016 350SX-F looked like that as well but I thought it would be good to give it a quick hone so I did. I would assume that after that many hours, you would still have a small glazing layer that isn’t visible with the naked eye but could affect oil distribution in the cylinder.
