Hello all, I am restoring an 01 cr250 and need some help with the suspension. I need to know what years will fit if I buy newer forks and shock and what else I’ll need to get to make the forks work or anything I’ll have to go with the shock if I go the “newer” route.
If any one out there has something that would work please let me know.

Forks up to 03 will fit without issue. The 03 also have larger base valves. The 04 and later have a different caliper bracket as the spacing changed.

Shocks are a little trickier as the lengths vary over the years and models.

All that to say, the stock stuff can probably be refreshed/revalved to be pretty good. If the stock parts are toast, only then would I want to mess with getting newer components fitted.

That was very good suspension, unless you are riding the pro class it would work great as it is. Just get it serviced.

I had an '00 and found the suspension, especially the forks, harsh. I sent them off to Factory Connection and it made a world of difference. It's good suspension, just needs some dial-in for your weight and riding style.

Thru 2007 CR250 will bolt right up, and are so much better that it's crazy. You will need a caliper bracket to fit the newer style fork lug spacing tho -- good time to upgrade to a 270mm oversize rotor and mount kit. front wheel and axle are same

Agree. I owned a brand new 01 model in the spring of that yr. & the suspension was ok.
OP - I have 07 CR250r suspension I’m selling. Let me know if you’re interested.
