Carb Flooding Engine

Hi, I have a UM DTF 50 dirt bike, and the carb leaks gas excessively, and then floods the engine. I tried bending the floater a little for adjustments but it didn't work just to find out from the dirt bike sitting for so long the floater now sinks. So is it better to buy a completely new carb for $57 or go to a dealership and pay for extra fees $130 to $180 to see whats wrong with my dirt bike all together, to make sure I didnt miss anything(mykissimmeemotorsports) . So yea is it better to fix or trust my dirt bike by paying extra to be fixed by the Kissimmee Motorsports in FL ?

I would check the fuel valve, some of those bikes use a vacuum style fuel valve and if the diaphram rips or tears it can put gas down the vacuum line and into the intake manifold in front of the carb. If it has a manual fuel valve shut it off, thats the only way the fuel can get thru the carb into the engine. Also look at the needle and seat and make sure that it seals, if that doesn't seat it doesn't matter what you set the float level at.

I have not checked the fuel valve but if it is ripped do I have to take to a dealership and get it repaired or can i just buy a new part ? And I think the needle and seat fits I just don't know if it eaither one or on how to repair it

Sounds like your already butt deep in it so fix it your self......and learn from the experience.

Most of those fuel valves aren't fixable you just replace it.

Do yourself a "BIG" favor and get rid of that POS...Get A Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM, Cobra, Polini.....I'd buy a "USED" one of those before I'd buy a new Um, or WETF there called.All they're just Korean beer can Japenese copies...For what you paid for that you could have got a better quality "Name" bike

thanks and I only paid like 200 for this bike due to the recession in the the economy, I dont have much money, But I'll take in the advice cuz I always wanted a Yamaha enduro

I don't mean to come off harsh, but those off "Brand" bikes are typically junk...They look good from far, but they're far from good. Save your money and wait for a deal on a Yamaha...It will be time & money well spent
