I have a 2014 KTM 450, bought used so I don't know how many hours. When I pull my clutch in all the way and then shift into gear, my bike starts to want to roll forward, and today at the track, I was sitting in idle, plush clutch in shifts down into first and the bike just shut off??? Any ideas? Bad clutch?

Thanks

Sounds like the cable is stretched. Need to check all adjustments, check service manual and measure specs/service tolerance, then go from there. Check for notches on the fingers of the clutch basket and inner hub as well

^^Its a KTM, hydraulic clutch, no cable. Check the fluid reservoir. If its dry, fill and bleed. If you still have the problem, slave cylinder may be leaking. If all that checks out, disassemble and inspect clutch for worn or broken parts.

The HYD clutch will self adjust until the clutch pack is out of spec. You need new fibers bud

Sounds like what I was expecting....after I troubleshoot the fluid, etc, will I need to just buy new plates or will a basket, etc be needed?

Bleed the clutch first. If that doesn't fix it then pull the clutch cover and get to inspecting/measuring.

Should not need new basket, believe the KTMs are steel

Should not need new basket, just clutch packs.

Sometimes on KTM's the brass washers get messed up and cause leaks. Cheapest fix if you are getting air in your lines or lack of hydraulic pressure.

Make sure the bike is warm. My bike will do that when the oil isnt hot enough.

Bleed the clutch.

Change the fiber clutch plates.
