Great movie. The guy that plays McCoy was spot on. Best movie I've seen in a long time

It kicked ass. Fan or not, go see it for the entertainment. All the casting was "Spot On."

I downloaded it and tried to get through it twice. I fell asleep the first time and lost interest the second time. I never was a Star Trek fan and this one bored me too. Never liked Star Wars either FWIW.

I am sure it's a great movie but I am not much of a scifi guy.

the theater was full of 40+ folks. I'd guess most were 50+.

Everyone that went seemed to enjoy it.

Considering the actors had to follow the original cast, they did just fine.

Im not a 'Trekkie' but I did grow up watching the orignal cast/series and do not like any of the other incarnations of Star Trek other than Kirk et. al. - and I thought the movie was good. They did not disrespect the original characters and storyline but put a 21st century flavor to it that Roddenberry couldnt do 40+ years ago.

Kids wont get it, they werent around when the first series made its mark.

Never was a Star Trek fan but do like sci-fi type movies and found the movie to be pretty good.

The theater we saw it in added so much to the experience. Full Surround sound cranked up to 11, packed theater, no one was chatting - (something I detest and love telling people to shut the fuck up) and the AC was on full as it was 95 degrees outside. From the moment the film starts, it goes into full speed to the credits. This was something I liked about Transformers as well. I pay to be entertained, Hollywood is starting to deliver for the modern film goer.

Like Racer said, since the actors had to follow the original cast and as actors had huge shoes to fill, I feel they did an Excellent job! Each character, Kirk, Dr. McCoy, Scotty did an unreal job of filling those shoes. Spock whose character is bland, the actor did a good job and Uhura was Dead Sexy! Id for sure hit it. More personality but it is 2009 and not 1969.

Eric Bana (Black Hawk Down) played an excellent villain. JJ Abrams - who I really couldn't get behind, due to his past, 'Lost' and all those other TV shows I personally didn't like has impressed the hell out of me. I enjoyed Cloverfield, I loved Star Trek. I would see it again.

Generally liked it, but it was kinda contrived in a couple key areas. Did think the casting was good. Still would have liked to nail me a green chick in my younger, pre-married days.

Saw it today. Thought it was great. It was an excellent "reboot" of the series.

I took my Dad and my six year old son.
My son and I thought it was awesome. My Dad was less than impressed.
I am a sci fi guy and have passed it on to my son, we watch Next Generation, Voyager and Enterprise reruns almost every night.
I didn't like how they played with the "formula" so much. Those Romulans didn't look like Romulans. Blowing up the planet they blew up kinda messed up the storyline for subsequent episodes and series.

Loved the movie thought spock's spaceship could have been better.

Messing up the story line was the point. By doing that the series can be fresh and new.

Same here. I turned it off about 20 minutes into it the first time around. After my kid kept watching it, I finally started to get it. After that I watched it over and over again and loved it. I plan on taking my 9 yr. old kid to see Star Trek. I'm sure he'll like Star Trek better since he isn't familiar with any of the old cheesy Trek stuff.
