Subject: re: jOE LEGAL VS. JOSE' ILLEGAL

JOE LEGAL vs. JOSE' ILLEGAL

You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families
have two parents, two children, and live in California .

Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes
$25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.

Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number,
and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".

Ready? Now pay attention...

Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00
per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has
$31,231.00.

Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or
$31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has
$31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for
his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now
has $24,031.00.

Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and
local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has
$31,200.00.

Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or
welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per
year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.

Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps
and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. Joe
Legal now has $9,631.00.

Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy. Jose
Illegal pays $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal
still has $ 31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance. Joe Legal
now has $7,231.00.

Jose Illegal says, "We don't need no stinkin' insurance!" and still has
$31,200.00.

Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc.

Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities,
gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month.

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after
work.

Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe
Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children get
a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal's children have an after
school ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services,
but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

Do you get it, now?

If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens...

You are part of the problem!

It's way PAST time to take a stand for America and Americans!

It won't be long now until the new administration makes those illegals legal anyway. They want the votes that will come along with it.

They are not sending them home, so may as well make them legal and have them pay taxes.

They already pay into the system by buying food, and clothes, etc.

Making someone legal doesn't give them the right to vote. You have to be a citizen to vote.

And there are so many glaring errors and omissions in the original post that it's not worth taking the time to pick apart.

Suffice it to say that companies cannot hire a bunch of people under the table anymore because the books would be screwed up. What normally happens is the illegal uses a fake or fraudulent SS#, so they actually do pay taxes.

You obviously don't know the inner workings of most construction businesses if you think they don't hire under the table.

They can't do it a lot, that's the point. They might hire a couple people, but it's pretty hard to justify hundreds of thousands of dollars going to "somewhere" without any trace of where that is.

Exactly, all the skilled workers are legit. It's only the guys doing the most menial tasks performing day labor that are under the table.

When our condos were repainted by a company from Kansas City last summer, only the company owner and one other man were likely legal. They came in a company van with all the paint and equipment in it. The other 12 guys who came in a clapped out old Impala were likely not legal....the company got the bid because they were $2200 under all our local companies on a job which was only $4000.

this is true to an extent........many ilegals pay in and never collect those taxes they paid in but many, get a portion of their check paid in cash depending on the industry and the size of the company. If the company makes a certain amount of money because they dont have reciepts for all the cash they paid out, the owner or the company ends up paying more taxes on all the cash they paid out.

but there is a lot of truth in the original post!

Just curious, how do you guys know who is and isn't legal, or are some of you making an assumption based solely on ethnicity?

I lived in Miami/South Florida for almost all of my life, lots of Hispanics, Haitians, Dominicans, etc... in South Florida and Miami, am I supposed to believe you can tell legals from illegals just by looking at them?

you have to talk to them to know for sure....if they dont know any english.....pretty good sign they are illegal.

i was on this house project of mine about every other day, bringing a 12 pack to the crews at the end of the day, ask them and they will tell you.

if a mexican crew is interested in working day and night and weekends, 99% chance they are illegals because they dont have any family/life here and no real reason to go home. they just work, send money home and go home over the wintertime for a month or so.

every mexican at the local home depot, is illegal, just stop and ask them!

I worked with an illegal once, he spoke english very well. He was actually a really nice guy with a family, and you kind of felt for the guy. We also have a bunch of drug dealing illegals around here that need to go. So if illegals are leaving due to lack of work, which illegals do you think are leaving?

Look people, I get 2.....3.....6 "persons" a day coming to my business door looking for work.
They say "espanol?"
I reply "no"
They continue in Latin......................
I ask "drivers license?" ( they drove to my business, btw )
Reply "no"
"Social security number?"
"No"
"Green card?"
"No"
And on and on, day after day, each month, more come with the same answers.
Believe it folks, MOST, not all, but most of these people are here by breaking the law. Bottom line!

Actually,

Wouldn't this be the perfect type of post to make a well supported argument and identify said "Omissions"?

Then there's your assumption about SS #s and "payin' taxes"...oh, really?

How many of those Nannys, Maids and the guys out front of Home Depot...how many of them are payin' taxes?

Also, your assumption of "Screwed-Up Books" is also dead wrong. In the construction biz it happens JUST LIKE THE POST STATES: Day-Workers for Cash.

How about the restraunt biz...?

How about all the Day-Workers at Loading Docks...etc.?

And to think...you live RIGHT in the MIDDLE of a Region that has been GROSSLY affected by this...

Did you verify that every worker on you house didn't have a legit Social Security Card? Just because Jose doesn't speak English very well doesn't mean he's here illegally.

That's interesting. My dad lives all the way up north in Bend, Oregon. I was visiting him last summer and while we were in McDonalds getting a gut bomb we talked about the hispanic labor that had made it's way up to Bend. He said since the building boom was over, all the Hispanic construction laborers left and and their wives that use to work service jobs at places like McDonalds left with them so only Anglos were working there now.

Now this makes me wonder, if all these migratory construction workers are illegal, how is it that all their wives have SS cards to work at places like McDonalds?

My assistant was US born and youngest in family, very bright, could do anything I taught her. All the brothers were from Mexico, all illegal as was her father, her mother legal. She was making very good money at my office and benefits. Her husband worked for the Irvine company and made a very good living, benefits he is legal also, but born in Mexico.
Her kids were on some sort of free health care from the government, they went to free day care also. Her grandmother was collecting SS in Mexico somehow. She told me her brothers also got some sort of government benefits. One was deported after his prison term, gang banger, from Santa Ana. He was back in 2 weeks.
The system is fucked up, the people that use it know how to defraud it. To me it is an issue.

Illegal cards and fake numbers.. We have had plenty of them over the years come through our office. Some of them even worked for us for many years ( unknowingly to us) When somebody gives you a social security card with a number and name on it, more than likely you're going to accept it as legit. Illegals also use fake names that have numbers that match up to the names. Its pretty easy, really.

So true, one of my friends is a project manager for Toll Brothers and probably 90% of the people actually on their work sites are illegals.

Let's do a little simple math. There are 300 million people in the US. It's difficult to ascertain exactly how many illegals from Mexico there are but the estimated number that gets thrown around is 6.5 million. That includes people that were here legally but overstayed their visa. So, lets say that half of them are males. That's 3.25 million. Now lets say that 25% of the males are children that are too young to work. That makes about 2.4 million Mexican males that are of working age in this country illegally which is less than 1% of the entire US population.

So tell me how less than one percent of the US population holds all the construction jobs in this country? Sure, if you live in a border town like San Diego I could see how it looks like illegals have all the construction jobs but the reality of the aggregate numbers shows you that isn't really the case for the entire US as a whole. In fact, their numbers are just a drop in the bucket.

Your numbers are way off.. Read how many illegals are estimated to have a home mortgage in this country alone. How do you think an illegal could possibly get a home mortgage?

Huh? My numbers are very close to those in your link. 57% of 11 million is 6.27 million illegal Mexicans so my estimate is actually higher!

The Illegal immigrant population of the United States is estimated to be about 11 million people, down from a historic peak of 12.5 million people in 2007.[2] According to a Pew Hispanic Center report, in 2005 57% of illegal immigrants were from Mexico,
