My son is competing for a college scholarship from a local TV station. He taped a segment shown on last night's news and now it's up for voting. If you can find time to watch the clip and then rate it (hopefully 10), he and I would appreciate it.

Thanks, all.

He's thinking about communications/mass media. He has some solid scholarship offers from a couple schools for speech and debate, but the schools he's looking at are not cheap!

The kid looks talented, he did a good job, he should be able to go to any school his grades and ambitions are good enough for, he should not be limited by what his parents can afford, neither should any other ambitious kid.

Thank you, I agree.

It's nice that all of the schools he has applied to have generous scholarships available, along with local sources (like this TV deal) and grants. It is a full-time job getting info together for grant and scholarship applications, but they are there if you look for them and put in the effort.

Thanks, guys for taking the time-the other kids he is competing against are from larger communities, so he needs all the help he can get to compete for votes.

Well, good on him. He looks like his heart is into it, and that's what's important. It's awesome when a young person finds their love and way early. More power to your boy. Job well done, too! My son, still a junior in high school, just started working at one of our local hospitals shadowing a trauma surgeon (which is what he wants to become). So, I'll be back here with my hand out to help with those $400K medical tuition bills...lol....

He has gotten scholarship offers from Creighton and Briar Cliff as well as two of our State schools. He's waiting to hear from CSU and Stanford. I think Creighton will be the final choice.

You guys have said some very nice things, thanks again.

He looks very comfortable talking on camera, that isn't something you can really learn.
Well done.
